haha I’m going to go out on a limb and say there can never be too big hahaha look at khole Kardashian… DAMNN although I think anything bigger then the width of your finger is just asking to get robbed and I would be scared to leave my house without armed body guards haha (but we are dreaming right?)

@Hope2BeeMrsC: OH so the reports in Star magazine is real then? she really is getting married? is she pregnant too then? thats crazy… and thats HUGE… but you have to also consider the life style they live and who she’s marrying… like I’m sure she competes with her sisters rings and her celebrity friends so it’s normal in their circle to have GINORMOUS rings. where as a “normal” citizen that would be outrageous. I can’t even imagine how big a 20.5 carat diamond would look like. You’d probably need sunglasses to look at it.

*sidenote: I am perfectly happy and content with ring my Fiance gave me 1.3 carats. it’s perfect for me. Although I wouldn’t turn down a bigger diamond for future anniversarys haha

I don’t wear a lot of jewelry, so I used to say anything over 1 carat.  Now I’m thinking anything over 2 carats, with 1.25 or 1.5 as my ideal 🙂

I think 3ct is a bit big (don’t get me wrong, I’m also gealous) but IMO 2ct is like ideal, becuase it will obviously be a lot bigger than many others, but it won’t be absolutely crazy.

I think it’s a fine line between having something pretty to show off (big ring) and being tacky (like Kim Kardashian and others).

So just maybe go for a simple ring style if you’re thinking of that big? I’m sure it will be beautiful. Post pics when you get it!!

For myself… I’ll probably go 1.5ct at largest.. but I would go down to .7ct too. Just whatever looks best to you and makes you happy.

I’ve always wanted at least 2ct. And the ring I choose is about 1.5ct. Although I don’t think that any size is too big. It depends on the cut and the character of the ring. Shesh for me the bigger the better (talking about engagement rings of course).

So while i agree that there’s no such thing as a generic “too big”, I do think it’s about how a particular size stone looks on YOUR particular finger.  I love Khloe kardashian’s ring, i just checked out the post on Kim’s new engagement ring and it’s tacky-looking, IMO, and paradoxically looks cheap to me. I tried on rings with center stones up to 5ct and for me personally, round solitaires more than like 2.5 cts started to look too big for my hand and were just impractical.

It’s too big once I can no longer lift my hand and have to walk like a knuckle-dragging caveman!!

i have 1.5 c and… I think it’s just about perfect. Any bigger and I *would* start feeling really self-concsious!

@Tunacupcakes: haha 🙂

I think too big is when it’s bigger than your finger width, as @shiney said. I love big stones, but there is such thing as TOO big!

The center stone of Kim’s is only 16.5 (ONLY, I know right) with 2, 2carat side stones…

I have a 3ct ring; but my center stone is only 1.1ct- so I think it all goes on how it is presented over just the carat size!
