nekonekokat: my ring is pretty inexpensive, was about $1,100. But, I bought a stand in because my original dream ring is over $10,000, so I had a replica made that I wear just because. It’s not really meant to replace my ring for any occasion, it’s just something I like having because it was only $40 and the custom made version of something we can’t afford and don’t want to save for.

haha omg I’m dumb I just realized what you ACTUALLY asked…for a min there I was like who the f****** has a $5000 stand in lmao….

Now on to the question…..I have no stand in. If it’s not on I wear nothing but my plain wedding band.

My diamond is irreplaceable, as it is a family heirloom. So if I did get a stand-in, that would be my reasoning.

People choose their stand in’s for all kinds of reasons. Sometines they are more showy than their set, sometimes less. Sometimes its a replica, other times a completely different style. Mine is different. I wear them at the gym. They are stainless steel with a cz, and the colored bands are dipped in white and rose gold, and my ring is morganite with white gold and diamods. Totally different.
I just didnt want my ring to get bent out of shape, as it was startin to get really banged up on the palm side.
My engagement ring was less than 5K, and my wedding band cost a little more than 1K because it’s a diamond eternity band. I’m getting a stand-in band mainly because I want something that isn’t blingy for multiple reasons, but also because my finger feels naked without a ring and I want something I can feel okay going into the ocean and doing anything else with, and I would want this even if they were $50 like the Dragon ring in my profile pic that my Fiance proposed this. So I put sentimental value is priceless. I even have a little emotional attachment to the cheesy $20 ring with a clear plastic stone, not even CZ, that I wore for 2 months until I got my engagement ring and it turned my finger green for half of that.

I voted sentimental value is priceless. Fiance and I designed our dream ring for my e-ring. I set a 5k budget and we ended up spending closer to 4. It’s not terribly expensive so while we could afford to replace it, I wouldn’t want to have to do so. Even if I upgrade in the future I plan to keep my e-ring for life, unless I pass it on to my future son or daughter.

I have a stand-in now because my ring is in production. After returning my first e-ring I went without a ring while we shopped around and ultimately settled on designing our own. When the wait was getting particularly bad another bee suggested that I wear a stand-in and she was right! I still want my ring but my stand in is special too. It’s totally different than my e-ring. I will likely alternate wearing it and my band when traveling or if there is a risk of damage to my e-ring.

I have a stand-in ring that cost $50. I use it when we travel. If something happens and it is taken from me, then at least it isn’t the high sentimental value one.

I live in Florida by the beach and go to the gym for weight lifting and am worried to lose/damage my Ering as it sits high, has a very thin band and 4 prong tension setting.

But I HATE a naked finger. I keep thinking I’ve lost my ring when I’m out without it. so I got 2 $5 CZ rings off EBay from China. Both smaller ct size then my real ring and these are rose gold plated while mine is yellow. But all are solitairs. i love having these stand ins and wear then 4/5 times a week for a few hours. I thought they would be flimsy made or whatever but they aren’t! Ice even found the SAME CZ rings being sold on etsy for $25! Someone’s importing them an reselling lol

I voted Sentimental value is priceless.

My ring isn’t worth alot by any means.. it’s a diamond cluster but we didn’t drop tons on it, and it’s probably not worth much, however – I still have a stand in set for when I’m doing really gross things at work. I work with my hands and I’d prefer not to get my ring even more scruffed up then it does in my typical daily life.

msformaldehyde: I read it the same way! I was trying to figure out why the poll started at $1000 lol.

OP: my ring wasn’t very expensive but I didn’t wear it when we took a beach vacation because I was scared to lose it in the ocean. Even if it was expensive- that’s what insurance is for so I guess I would think it’s more sentimental for most people.

nekonekokat: I voted on the sentimental value is priceless. I don’t ever want anything to happen to the engagement ring my Fiance proposed with. That being said, while I don’t have a stand-in yet I will be getting one as we live in Florida and visit the beach/springs frequently and there’s no way my real e-ring will be on my finger on those days!

nekonekokat: only have my engagement ring, but I don’t plan to get a stand-in ring. If I don’t want anything to happen to my ring(s), I just won’t wear them…prefer to keep them safely at home in the ring box!

When my ring was getting reset, I bought a $15 stand in ring for fun. Now that I have my actual ring and it fits, I see no reason whatsoever to have a stand-in. I wear mine for everything, and if for whatever reason I did ever take it off, I would just wear no ring. Or just wear my wedding band.
