I am trying to decide how much time I should take off right before my wedding. I have heard that the week before is very chaotic and you are running around doing alot so I am not sure.
My wedding is on a Friday at 5pm. I already always have Wednesdays off and i will for sure take Thursday off too. Is Wednesday, Thursday, Friday enough time? It wouldn’t be a problem for me to take the whole week off(just wouldn’t have any vacation left) but I am wondering if that is really necessary.
I am wondering if I can get some advice from what others are planning on doing and what already married bees have done and how busy they truly were.

It depends on how much DIY you have and if you have a wedding planner/coordinator or not. Even if you just get a good friend to help out with last minute stuff it can really make life easier. Also think about personal beauty time. Are you getting waxed, plucked, nails, tanning etc? That may take up extra time. You also might have family or friends coming in early so you may want to save some time from your personal errands to spend with them.

@mlharrison23:I took off the entire week of the wedding. I’m taking NO chances…lol
I also work third shift, so I wanted to be rested as well.

The entire week before the wedding was CRAZY for me, so to be on the safe side I would advise having the whole week off. But it really does depend on how much DIY stuff you will need to be doing/ organising, etc. And, if you can, it is ideal to have a couple hours to yourself to just breathe and prepare yourself mentally, so it might be an idea to factor that in 🙂

I had everything done several weeks before the wedding, so it wasn’t really chaotic for me. We basically just had the rehearsal and the tuxes to take care of. Everything else was done.

it was pretty busy for me–but i worked all the way through the wednesday before my wedding, and also had school going on.
i still had a lot to do–like get my dress cleaned and picked up, last minute accessory changes (because i could not make up my mind) and making all the homemade snacks for the dessert buffet. we also had a rehearsal and rehearsal dinner which took up almost a whole day.
on top of that, i had out of town friends to entertain, manicures/pedicures to get, waxing, hair gloss/color upkeep….
it was pretty busy. it was also a very emotional week.

Thanks for responding everyone! I am doing a lot of DIY projects, although alot our done but I am also planning on tanning and stuff. My sister is coming from out of town too so that is another good point.
I know I will be soooo nervous and anxious…maybe I would have a hard time concentrating at work. My tummy tends to go in knots when I am nervous. I think I will take off the whole week. Thanks a ton for helping me make up my mind!!!!!!!

I took the entire week. Plus I had an extra Friday too (because of Easter). I definitely needed it.

I am in the week before my wedding right now and it is not crazy at all. I’m the type that needs to plan everything ahead of time though so I made sure everything was done asap. All I have to do is drop off everything at the hotel and reception hall.
Tomorrow is my last day at work!
EDIT: Although being off of work for the whole week would be AWESOME, it’s at least helped me take my mind off the wedding a little. I’m taking off 2 weeks for the honeymoon so I don’t have enough vacation days to take this week off too.
