This is probably a strange question, but I was wondering what kind of last minute stuff people do the week/days before the wedding. I’m thinking a head to my last hair cut and color before the wedding and debating on when to schedule it. Our wedding will be on a Sunday. I was debating on the Friday the weekend before the wedding, or the Friday the weekend of the wedding. Someone said I was crazy for considering scheduling a hair appointment the weekend of the wedding, because I will be so busy. I can’t imagine I will be too busy to take a couple of hours to go to the hair dresser. But, then again, I’ve never done this before. Maybe it makes more sense to do it the weekend before the wedding in case something comes up. Thoughts…..

I would do the weekend before, but not because of how busy I was the weekend of the wedding. I had a color appointment the Saturday a week before my wedding, and then a complete spa day the Thursday before my Saturday wedding (6 hours of pampering on my own!) Later that day, my Boyfriend or Best Friend from the UK flew in, and Friday went buy in a blur of getting things set up and spending time with Out of Town guests who showed up early, but based on your timeline, I don’t think having the time would be an issue.
That said, the reason why I colored the week before is so I had a few days for my color to mellow out a bit. The first day after a color for me at least is kind of POW! and I wanted my hair to have tamed down a bit before the weddding. Plus, frying for a color and then frying for a style within three days would have had my hair a bit frizzy. I did some treatments in the week before just to have my hair a bit happier and healthier.

My last minute stuff was in preparation for the Honeymoon since I couldn’t pack until the last minute. I was also living in between two places as we were also moving around that time. I colored my hair the week before the wedding. I was also working most of the week as well. You probably have enough time to get it colored, but I would just get as much done asap.

Perhaps I was really low maintenance or was over-organized or something, but I worked Monday-Thursday the week of my Saturday wedding and only had the Friday off, and even the Friday was primarily running “fun” errands and getting my nails done. I didn’t feel super busy, just antsy because I was ready for the weekend! 🙂 It totally depends on what you plan to have left to do the week before!

It’s probably best to get things done a little earlier if you can, just in case. You never know what could pop up. The few days before my wedding were really hectic just because we were also dealing with moving me out of my old apartment and into my husband’s apartment and preparing for our honeymoon (including making preparations for our cats/cat sitters).
Most of the other things, including my beauty appointments, I took care of during the week after work.

I remember sitting down on Monday the week of my wedding and saying to myself “why don’t I have anything to do? I must be forgetting something!” I felt weird all day, but it was my first day of summer vacation and I truly had nothing to do. It all depends on how much is going to be going on at the wedding. Ours was pretty relaxed. I did have a nightmare final night at home putting together welcome bags – it took way longer than I anticipated and there were only about 20 or so. Write yourself a plan and try to stick to it, that will probably help.
The real thing about the cut/dye that I’d be worried about is what if it’s screwed up? If you discover the color is wrong, there won’t be time to do anything about it. If the cut gets botched, you’ll be scrambling to fix it. talk about stress! I think I got my hair cut a few weeks ahead of the wedding to let it relax into its more natural form again. But casual wedding makes all the difference there, too!

I did my hair color exactly a week before the wedding (Saturday), which worked out perfectly. I would have had time to fix it if necessary. For me, the few days leading up to the wedding were very busy and overwhelming.

Two weeks before on the hair appointment. Color and cut needs to settle in, and you need time to fix a potential mistake. How busy you are depends on how organized you are in the year/months leading up!

ms16: i would do ny last cut and colour at least a week before so that if (god forbid) Anything is not perfect there us time to fix it. Also dont forget to get your mani/pedi done a day or two abead.

My most time consuming tasks the week of my wedding were various craft projects that I easily could have completed before. For whatever reason, I put off making program fans and menu cards until Monday-Tuesday for my Saturday wedding. Other than that, it was pretty chill.

- Wedding: September 2015 - Beach
I had a mini destination wedding (about 3hr drive from home). Mind you I didn’t have a bridal party or anything and I just had to worry about me.
thursday prior I got my brows waxed, facial and nails done. Then I packed the stuff I’d need for honeymoon. Then that Friday we packed wedding stuff like suit, dress, favors, etc. and drove to the location. Then we took the afternoon to scope out places to take pics after the ceremony.
Day of, woke up fairly early, had a nice breakfast, and got my hair done about 3-4hrs before ceremony. Got back, did make up, dress, pre-ceremony pics and was maybe 10mins late to my own wedding (oops).
I did have assigned helpers though, which was important. I had two friends who did things like get water and snacks and even went out to buy my husband an undershirt last minute because you could see through his dress shirt! We also did a bustle dry-run beforehand.

My wedding was on a Saturday and I took Thursday and Friday off of work. Thursday my parents came and helped me with some last minute DIY and logistical stuff and then Friday I had nail appointment, ring cleaning, prepped the reception location, rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, and cocktail hour with friends. Nothing felt too rushed. I could have squeezed in a hair appointment probably.
