Last week I made a post about 2 Chi Chi London dresses and I fell in love with the first dress I posted, which is this:
I am having a hard time deciding how to accessorize a dress like this. I want my accessories to make the dress more elegant and make it feel more bridal (I know this dress does’t quite feel like a bride’s dress… YET!). I’m debating whether to do a birdcage veil or a simple traditional veil pinned into my hair. I also don’t know if I would add a belt, or maybe some white lace gloves. I think pearl accessories would look absolutely darling 🙂
So do I go with a traditional veil
Or do I try a birdcage ?

Birdcage veils are so classic and beautiful so I say that with a small pearl bracelet and earings And some peep toe shoes.

I actually wore this dress for my courthouse ceremony!
I couldn’t decide on the veil debate so I ended up buying a lace hair piece since i wore my hair in a curly style.

I think birdcage veils always go better with shorter dresses.

Definately a blingy or color coordinated wide belt, tied off to the side. Then either pearls or diamonds/crystals For jewlery. Go for simple and elegant. Blingy shoes to go with the belt would be fun too! You didnt say what your hair looks like…is that you in the 2 veil pictures? I think either one is lovely, it just depends if you are a veil person or not.

ohhmaigosh: I think a birdcage veil would look great with a tea length dress 🙂

You chose such a pretty dress! I have a tea length dress as well and I chose a traditional veil, I feel more bridal with it! But I think either one would look great with yours. I think a sash would look lovely with your dress, either something in your wedding colors or just a blinged out one.

ohhmaigosh: I think if you want it to look more bridal, go with a traditional veil, like the first photo, add a blingy sash and some drop earrings! How are you going to wear your hair?

Bird cage veils are gorgeous with tea length dresses.

ohhmaigosh: definately try the different options on. I’m wearing a tea length dress and initially planned to wear a birdcage veil but when I tried it I found i didn’t like the look on myself. I’m now wearing a fingertip veil instead

I think an short/elbow length double veil would give it a very cute retro vibe

My best friend wore a very similar dress, and she wore a wide pearl bracelet and a bandeau birdcage veil.

Thank you so much for the responses! I am planning to wear my hair mostly down, and I have longer brown hair. I haven’t started shopping for veils or Birdcages yet, but I may look around some bridal stores as well as etsy. I’m currently at the brainstorming stage.
Dogmummy: Justbrynne: It sounds like the both of you think alike. The pearl accessories and the birdcage veil would be very classic. I really like those suggestions you came up with
ShawnT: I am so happy to have a dress twin! I fell in love with this dress the moment I found it.
mnsue: Birchcanoe: creativeplannertobee: Loving the sash Idea! I would probably go with something in the same tones with some bling. I wouldn’t want the sash to stand out too much since my wedding colours are quite dark. But I love the idea of a little BLING!
llussier: I’m loving the Retro vibe!!! I especially ADORE the second photo, I think the layers are just so fun 🙂
Steph77: I definitely have to try a birdcage veil on before I commit. Like you, I may not like it and decide on the alternative. Thanks for suggesting that!

llussier: this is what I was picturing immediately! So pretty!

Personally I think birdcage veils are overdone at the moment. They are a handy accessory to make a non-vintage or semi-vintage dress appear more “vintage” overall.
i think your dress would look darling with a short, poufy retro style veil- maybe even Swiss/polka dot tulle? you can try different lengths such as shoulder, elbow etc.
i love the sound of pearls and little white gloves. Happy accessorising 🙂
