You could make a cascading line of flowers that wrap around the cake (buy the flowers from your florist, as it’ll be mor expensive to have your baker make them). You could wrap a small ribbon around each tier (for example, if your having a rustic wedding, you could wrap a small bit of burlap around the bottom of each tier. Or any colour of your choosing).

Psonally I think the simplicity of the cake is what makes it beautiful. You could always rest your bouquet on top of the cake so it has flowers on top.

You could choose to decorate the more simple cake with satin ribbon and fresh flowers.

For what it’s worth, I think the less expensive cake looks more appetizing. More like food! Laughing

Plain cakes are the way to go nowadays! I love the first one with nothing on it. If you have to add something just use two or three flower heads and group them together at the base. If you want more then that take one or two and put them at the opposite side on the middle tier.

@linnylou_88:  Really really! I know sugar flowers and flawless fondant are the thing nowadays. But they don’t taste as amazing as they look. That second cake looks a little like it could be made of plaster — don’t get me wrong, very pretty, but doesn’t inspire my appetite.

the more expensive cake looks like it’s decorated with cake tattoos and gumpaste flowers.  duff has a few tattoos but his are a little more brighter. for the gumpaste flowers, many bakers have a catalog for you to select from and they order premade gumpaste flowers.  or you can order your own from a place like this http://www.globalsugarart.com/roses-c-999_991.html.  we have a local cake decorating store that stocks a lot of items that pros use.

i’ve taken cake decorating classes and gumpaste flowers are not that diffiult to make as long as you have the tools and learn the technique.  my favorite to make were th calla lillies and the mums.  another option for decorating cake is to use a cutter such as a cricut cake to cut the fondant.

ribbon and regular buttercream piping designs are the cheapest option (because it’s not as labor intensive).  i actually prefer the look of fresh flowers over gumpaste flowers.

Some satin ribbon would look lovely. I love the cheaper option better.

I think if you add a few fresh flowers and a nice cake topper the first one is perfect.
