I know this sounds like a stupid topic for a thread, but I was just talking about this with my family so I thought I would ask you all. My cousins live in Canada, and they seem to go to Wal-Mart for EVERYTHING, including their groceries. It is literally their go-to spot. Where I live, however, Wal-Mart is definitely not as popular. The closest one is at least a 20 minute drive from my house, and it is so nasty that I would hate going there even if I had to (it is in a bad part of town, there was a murder in the parking lot two years ago, etc.).
Is wal-mart still big in your area? Do you shop there often or are you a Wal-Mart hater? What are your alternatives?
Just as a side note, I do most of my shopping at Costco and Target.

There’s a Walmart about a mile from me. There are also other dept stores nearby, so I don’t have to shop at Walmart. I don’t like their anti-union policies and other things, so I don’t shop there.

@MissDareDevil: 15 minute drive for us, but we live in the boonies. I am that cheap person that price scouts at every store and buys the things that are cheapest at the prospective stores. As much as I hate to admit it, most things are much less expensive there. We do not buy produce or meat from there, never will. However, Walmart paper towels are no different than Target paper towels… why pay more?
I am not a store snob at all, we live on a tight budget and have to make it work 🙂

Back home, we shopped there occasionally since it was closer than Target or Kohls. In college, I shopped there a TON. I bought all my groceries at Aldi’s and WalMart.
Here in the UK, the closest we have is Asda (which is owned by WalMart) and the closest one is 30 minutes away. We also have Tesco, which is sort of similar but has way more groceries than other stuff whereas WalMart is the other way around.
We’ve only been to Tesco once since getting her 2-2 1/2 months ago and we’ve never been in Asda.

I went in the new one they opened here. What a backwash. I won’t darken THAT doorway anytime soon!

I am personally a Target fan, but I do go to Wal-mart every blue moon.

I live in Kansas City. Here, I don’t like Walmart, I much prefer to go to Target. The Walmarts around here suck, and usually have strange people. I currently live about 5 minutes from a Walmart.
But back where I grew up (near Hays, KS), EVERYONE went to Walmart: construciton workers, farmers, teachers, doctors, lawyers, etc. Walmart is definatley to go-to place for everyone and everything. Growing up, the nearest Walmart was about 1hr 15min away. That was the Hays, KS Walmart, I didn’t live in Hays, just somewhat near it. Yes, over an hour drive is “close” when you live out in the middle of nowhere!)

I prefer Target but sometime I’ll go to Walmart if it’s not peak time. It can get kinda crazy during the weekends, especially Sunday afternoons.

I’m in Canada and quite often go there. Usually not for clothes (sometimes for groceries, but now another grocery store is closer). But for makeup or school supplies or whatever, I love Walmart.

LOL! I swear I wear clothes when I go.

Everybody goes to walmart around here.

We go there occasionally. It’s about 20 minutes away. I have nothing against it – we are just now getting out of our broke college kid phase, so it was ALL price based at that point. Now we mainly do groceries at Kroger or BJ’s. Other stuff varies.

ETA: after looking at the picture more closely, I noticed her “friends” are dressed… quite normally. Who in the world let her go out like that? Pretty sure if my friend wanted to go shopping in her bootie cheek panties, I’d put some damn pants on her lol.
