I *just* approved the final proof, and my wedding is 18 days away.  I’m kind of cutting it close, but we had a hard time deciding if (1) we should do them ourselves to get them done by our invite printer, and (2) the exact order of the ceremony.  Like you, I wanted to wait until we were satisfied with everything!

Do it as soon as you can!! My church didn’t approve my programs until the weekend before the wedding and it was a HUGE hassle. At that point I was too busy and had too many people already flying in to want to mess with programs. My programs weren’t elaborate, but still took hours to fold and tie a ribbon on.

we did ours about a month before. But that was too early. Our priest ended up changing some of the mass and it didn’t coincide with our programs. We spent good money on them so we didn’t want to re-do them

I bought pre-scored programs that you print on your printer at home and I did them about 3 days before the wedding.

I did mine like 4 or 5 weeks ahead of time, but we handmade them and it took a while.

My wedding is in 25 days (EEK!) and I’m planning to print them the week of the wedding.  We don’t need them approved by a church (getting married outside) and we haven’t finalized all the details yet like the reading, so we’re waiting a bit.  The draft is made, though, and ready to go.  I’m planning to print one at home and then have them copied on to nicer paper at Kinkos.

I’m 18 days out, I plan on printing mine tomorrow or thursday. I want to have as much done as possible by the week of the wedding. I have friends coming in the week of the wedding, so I wanted to spend time with them without having to worry about that stuff

We printed ours less than a week before the wedding (we DIYed them). They turned out really ugly, so I wouldn’t recommend waiting until the last minute. LOL.

I think 2 or 3 weeks ahead is good.

Printed mine out a week ahead of time with no problems. DIY job – just printed on nice paper with some vellum as a front cover then stapled and they look fab

I did ours over a month out, since we had a vistaprint groupon, and I knew printing/shipping would take a while. If there had been any last minute changes (we had a backup reader, since my Godmother had been in the hospital the month before), we would have just dealt with it.

I’d confirm the order with your officiant, then get them done as soon as you can, so it’s off your to-do list.

I ordered mine when we finalized the ceremony and music, about 6 weeks out.  We ordered from Vistaprint.  If there’s a truly last-minute change, there’s no way I’d have time to fix them anyway.

My wedding planner told me I needed to print programs in January for my end of march wedding…
