I know a few to several people with a moissanite e-ring IRL

I have definitely seen moissanite rings out and about IRL

I MAY have seen moissanite rings out and about IRL, but I didn't know for sure what they were

The only place I see moissanite/talk about it is on weddingbee/jewelry websites

People have assumed mine is diamond they don’t ask. We have a high income bracket in mid 30s so I think they just assume it’s diamond. I choose not to bring it up, if someone asked I would tell them. Here is my 2 carat forever one mossiante

mrstodd2bee :  I’ve been on these boards for some time, first as I discovered moissanite and then as my oldest got engaged and planned his wedding and now as the middle one is planning his proposal and eventually, his wedding. It’s interesting that, over the last four years, there always seems to be a poster obsessed with putting down moissanite. It’s laughable really, as one moves on another takes over.

If it wasn’t for this site, I’d have no idea!  Particularly if I came across a ring inside where a bright light would not help me see the disco ball effect of some moissanites.  Honestly, the only gem I care about is the nature of my own.  If a woman looks happy with what she has and her ring is gorgeous, I’ll join in her excitement!  Sometimes I look at rings now and try to guess for myself whether I think it is a diamond vs. a moissanite, but only just for fun because I’m convinced they are indistinguishable to the naked eye.

SoonMrsCrocker2 :  By the same token, you don’t know that her friends don’t think it’s a diamond. Actually no one knows what anyone thinks so why not err on the side of being supportive and positive rather than making a passive-aggressive post – you know, where you put down the posters ring in a suble and backhanded manner and then say it’s ok ’cause you have one too and it’s beautiful.

The fact is that it is a real engagement ring with a real moissanite and it IS beautiful and looks amazing on her.

If someone had one,I honestly couldn’t tell the difference. I considered a moissy and when I had my custom stetting made last yr, my jeweler knew about them and offered to bring some in for me if I wanted. I would have chosen one had they not discontinued the OEC, so I ended up with an OEC diamond. I want one for the future and have been keeping an eye on other companies that are starting to cut OEC (preferably in peach/barely pink colors) 😊

I have shown several people I am close to my moissanite ring and they thought it was a diamond…people who wouldn’t lie to me especially since they know how many lab created stones & costume jewelry I happily wear. No this may not represent EVERYONE, but I know there are plenty who DO assume it is a diamond and plenty who are educated about diamonds enough to know otherwise.

During my hair appointment a few days ago, my stylist said “That ring is so pretty”. I said thank you and my sister interjected saying it is not cz…my stylist commented yeah I can tell that it is not a simulant bc it’s too pretty and sparkly. I proceeded to tell her it was moissanite and all about it. She had never heard of it before, but thought it was impressive. No one around me knows about moissanite…well some do now bc I tell them about it. I found out about it myself a few years ago from Jewelry Television.

Have I seen other’s with moissanite myself? Perhaps, but I am not one who cares enough to look. I couldn’t even tell you what my cousins’ and aunts’ wedding rings look like LOL. Well one of my aunt’s only bc we went to dinner months ago and she showed me her upgrade. I didn’t even notice that her original wedding ring was a 2 ct pear diamond which she was wearing on her right hand at the time…LOL. Mind you she has been wearing that ring for the past 50 years and I never noticed. Granted I don’t see her all the time, but still. I just don’t pay attention to rings unless it’s on my finger.

I have a friend that bought a moissanite ring after seeing mine and loving it. I’ve also been seeing it in jewelry stores more often.

I have one! I only found out about it through this site and then I really wanted one. No one has ever actually asked about it so I haven’t told anyone. If asked what it was I would say it’s a moissanite. People just say how pretty it is. I don’t know anyone else with one but I guess people could have them and I just haven’t noticed!

I never heard of it till I joined Weddingbee. Is it even sold in stores? It only online? I don’t know anything about it! Maybe it’s not common in our country.

aimerxoxo :  I went into Morgan Jewelers today to look at some 2ct diamond solitaires, and the salesman told me that he sells about 6 moissanite engagement rings a week! If that tells you something. He says he mostly sells the ones in the 1-1.5ct range.
