So I’ve got about 100 invitations to send out. I’m thinking of using sheet music to do this to kind of go along with my music themed wedding. How crazy would I be to try and antique that much paper using the coffee and baking method and then trying to use that paper as a backing for my invitations printed on cardstock? I’m not getting married for awhile so I would have lots of time to do it a little at a time.

I think if you’ve got the time then you should go for it! It sounds amazing and I’ve always thought sheet music looks great when incorporated in stationary. If you do go ahead with this I’d love to see pics.

I think it sounds really unique! You should do it! Since you have some time, you can always practice until its perfect. Are you going to add any ribbon or anything?

Would you be able to see much of it if it were the backing paper? I’d hate for you to go thru all that work for something that you wouldn’t see.
What if you used it to wrap around your invites? Like a wide bellyband.

I think it sounds like a great idea! My daughter (I’m the MOB) is doing the same exact thing but putting the paper inside of clear wine bottles to use in the centerpieces. Good luck!

I did a paper backing on mine, and it only showed about a 3/8″ around the edges. If you’re thinking the same thing, it might not be fully appreciated. I agree with the belly band, or maybe print your information on a vellum overlay? That way you could see the sheet music through the translucent part? Might be hard to read though…

If you have time to experiment you should definitely do it!

Not only would not a lot of it show with a backing, but — is sheet music heavy enough to be a backing? It would be an odd disconnect if the invites were cardstock, which is typically a bit heavy, and the backings were much lighter weight.
But I love the idea and think you should use them for something! What about envelope liners? That’s actually where I thought your post was heading as I read it, and I was thinking Yeah! Wow what a fab idea!
