Hey! I think we’re ring twins! The bezel set moissy is a 7mm colorless Round Brilliant, and the loose one is a 7.5mm colorless OEC. The OEC is perfectly round, it just looks flat on the one side because I was squeezing it between my fingers. 🙂

I have a pretty enclosed basket as well and my old stone was a forever one and my stone looked like that in direct or streaming sunlight which bothered me a lot but figured it was my basket. I have since switched over to a antique cut and no longer have this issue or some of the other issues I had with the forever one like shallowness.

First pic is of the forever one with sunlight streaming through my car window.

Second is of my antique cut in direct sunlight and that’s my diamond wedding band.

theboo :
I think the F1 round brilliant was cut to maximize the fire, so it fell short in other areas. These newer cuts are more focused on the all around performance of the stone.

I’ve seen the liquid gray color in a loose moissanite too. I LOVED it, actually one of my favorite lightings. I’ve seen diamonds do this as well, I’ve heard it’s a mark of a well cut stone? Idk!

theboo :  I can’t say if it’s a higher quality stone. The cut is very different from the F1 since it’s an antique cut so it has really chunky facets vs the more splintery F1. It also has a much higher crown than the F1 that is cut more shallow to maximize brilliance. They are made from the same material but I think the factors that I listed above make a difference. I got my stone custom cut from Jules at JYB and I opted for near colorless.

This was a moissy I had in on trial from BE that was their super premium round 1ct stone. I can’t wait for my “for keeps” ring and stone to get here!!!

theboo :  I got my OEC loose from Moissanite Co. Then had it set by David Klass. Sorry for the delayed response!
