My now-husband and I had been talking about getting married for a while, and then he seriously started talking about rings.  We were going to New Orleans with my family to celebrate my father’s birthday, and I found the website for a jeweler there who had rings that I loved.  We basically agreed to pick out the ring together, but that wouldn’t count as “engaged” because he wanted to do a surprise proposal — which was fine with me, because it gave me the chance to give some input into how my life was going but also let him do what he thought was important.

So, we picked out the ring in May.  In July, we went to the state fair (which we do every year).  He was *very* insistent that we ride the ferris wheel.  When the wheel got to the very top, he got down on one knee and pulled a ring box from his pocket and made a totally sweet speech and asked me to marry him.  I said yes, and then the ferris wheel went round and round, and it turns out he tipped the ferris wheel operator to pause it longer than usual at the top, so when we got off the carnival folks were all, “Did she say yes???” and I love that they were the first ones to know that we were engaged. πŸ™‚

He later told me he had been planning to propose to his future-wife on the top of a ferris wheel since he was 11.

My fiance and I were leaving out of Charleston, SC to go on a cruise for a week. I knew he would be proposing around that time, but I wasn’t sure if he would do it before the cruise or during it. I hoped he would do it before so that we could use the vacation as a celebration of our engagement. The night before the cruise, we stayed in Charleston. He made reservations at a fancy restaurant called Circa 1886. He didn’t propose during the dinner since neither of us like a lot of attention. Instead, he suggested we take a walk around the garden area after dinner. We walked hand in hand in the moonlight. He suddenly dropped to one knee and proposed. It was perfect!

@ashleyyyg:  Hey we hiked to a waterfall too!

Fiance took me up to a cabin out of town, the next day we went on a hike up to these waterfalls, where he just got down on one knee and said “Will you marry me” πŸ™‚

Mine was a complete surprise. It was my birthday, too, and he told me he had fun secret plans. This started out with a horse-drawn carriage ride around Boston. The carriage stopped in the Public Gardens, a beautiful park in the city, and we got out. We walked into the park to a little bridge over the pond. He made a small speech about being my best friend and other things. He got down on one knee and proposed! This was followed up by a fancy Italian dinner. Best birthday ever!

He completely surprised me with a scavenger hunt of our first 4 dates. My family and friends were all involved waiting at each location. I love puzzles, so at each location he had a picture puzzle for me in a box with a different word on it “will…you…etc”. He ended on one knee at the location that we met. We met on the golf course, got engaged on the golf course, and then we got married on the golf course! He is so romantic and I could not believe how well thought out his plan was! My brother was there to capture it all with his camera!

Fiance took me to a very elegant restaurant I’d been wanting to try for a while. After a decadent meal, he got up from his chair, walked over to me, got on his knee and proposed. πŸ™‚

My guy isn’t very imaginative, but I saw the pure love in his eyes as he proposed and it was an incredibly touching moment.

My fiance arranged a huge Disneyworld trip for us to go on with 16 of his friends and my best friend Sarah. We were in Magic Kingdom walking towards Space Mountian when we saw the rose garden. I thought we were all going to get a group picutre there, but then when everyone got into the garden he got down on one knee, with all our friends surrounding us, and said, “I love you so much, and I know with you our love will not delete. Will you marry me?” The “our love will not delete” part came from a character of one of our favorite shows, and as he said that he brought an old gameboy out of his pocket that he had hollowed out and painted like the character that said that line. Inside he had put a makeshift box that had the ring. Instead of saying yes, I ended up saying “DUH!” because that’s all I could think of saying! I started crying pretty much immediately afterwards.

I knew it was coming at some point in time, but I never thought it was going to be so soon or at Disneyworld! He decided to do it there because our first date he took me to Downtown Disney, and the Magic Kingdom was the only Disney park we hadn’t been to together. πŸ™‚

I came home sweaty after grocery shopping and Fiance proposed infront of a close friend to both of us. I was in a haze because of me panting home with the bags. It was super cute, and super us. Wouldn’t want it anyother way. πŸ™‚

We went to a RUSH concert and he arranged for us to eat at the stadium restaraunt.  I had a mouthful of food when he covered my hand with his and cleared his throat.  I was thinking, “Oh no you don’t!”  While we’re rushing through this meal and I’ve got my mouth full?!  Grrr.  It was two seconds, a kiss and we had to get out the door to the concert.

We went on a 9 day vacation to celebrate our one year anniversary (which was on 9-11-10). It was also his date day/nite turn so he decided to do it on our anniversary day as well.

The day started with him waking me up, telling me to get dressed cause he was taking me some where…. So I get dressed, get in the car, and he surprised me by taking me to a spa (WHICH WAS AWESOME by the way)… After the spa treatment, we went on a boat ride which lasted about two hours….it was cool because we also got to see some dolphins…For dinner we get dressed up and he surprises me by taking me to this very nice restaurant. The waiter seated us and said that she understood we were celebrating an anniversary and they gave us the best seat in the house….. hmmmmm so automatically I am thinking he is going to propose to me at the restaurant since apparently he had spoken to them ahead of time… NOT!!!

He drives back to the beach house and asked me to sit in the car for a second…. He came out and got me and when I walked in, there were candles going all the way up the stairs, all in the bedroom on the floor, on the dresser, night stand….everywhere… Roses, Rose petals, music playing, champaign… just very romantic… There was a card on the dresser and he told me to open it… I opened up the card, read it, and then there was a box sitting behind it. I opened up a box and there was a note…. I read it and turned around and he was on his knee with the RING!!!!! He said some words that of course I did NOT hear, lol… but I do know what he said now…. He said…. “One year ago on this day, I nervously asked you to be my girlfriend. One year later, I ask you with confidence to be my wife”…of course I said YES!

3 weeks ago (to the day!!) I got home from work, we are leaving to go to on holiday the following day so I am all about packing and finalising things and in sweats. I take a break and go sit on the sofa, he comes up and sits next to me. Brings out a ring box, tells me I am the only one for him and he wants to spend the rest of his life with me. I cried and grinned from ear to ear all at the same time. We then had a lovely quiet night at home just the 2 of us and it was great.

I have since found out that he had several scenarios planned out in his head about proposing on holiday etc that he had discussed with his friends but when he saw me sitting there, in our home just being me, the woman he loves, he realised it was the right moment and he didn’t want to wait. πŸ™‚

We went to dinner on our one year anniversary 3/25/2011 headed home completely over stuffed from Fogo de Chow. Turned on the back roads towards our house, and there was roadwork with a sign man which said Stop. He pulled over so me in my typical stuffed just get us home voice said “the sign says STOP not park”….he told me he felt like he was going to get sick so he parks and gets out…comes to the passenger side kind of hurled over, and paising. The whole time I’m thinking please do not vomit because I will be right behind you.

He knocks on the window, I rolled it down and he said, “You know I love you” I said, “I love you too are you ok so we can get home” he paused and looked up to a sign which said……

It was just like this.

we were talking and then he goes

Him: I want to know if youve considered marrying me?

Me: Of course I have, why do you think I even talk to you. ( jokingly of course )

Him: ( proposes )

Me : ewwwwwww you like me… ewww…

Hahaha I was messing around, I guess I was a little happy/shy/nervous all together, he then got mad and asked me to stop joking around during a serious situation like this

hahaha
