I just saw the post about what day of the week your fiance` or now husband proposed and I thought it would be cute to start a thread about how exactly he proposed.
Try to make it as short as you can, while getting all of the details. Sometimes when we write about our proposals they turn into books lol
And then post a picture of your engagement ring! (Who doesn’t love ring porn?)

I’ll start things off here 🙂
The year before my fiance proposed, we went on vacation with my family to Wildwood, N.J. While on vacation, we all went to restaurant called Harborview in Cape May, N.J which is a beautiful restaurant that is exactly how it sounds. It is right on the harbor, overlooking the ocean. Before we went in to be seated, my family decided to take some pictures by the water with the beautiful backdrop of the setting sun. While they were doing this, my fiance and I walked over to the dock and held hands, just standing quietly contemplating. I then looked over at him and asked what he was thinking about and he said he thought this would be a perfect spot to get engaged one day.
Well fast forward a year later, my fiance and I planned our own little vacation to Cape May for four days. We stayed at a Victorian style bed and breakfast; it was perfect. On our second day there, we decided to go the restaurant where we had that special moment at sunset so we could experience it again. We made it while the sun was setting and when we got there I took some pictures on the dock. While I was turned around, my now fiance asked me to put down my camera. When I turned around he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him 🙂
Now some ring porn 🙂

I knew that my boyfriend was going to propose to me, I just didn’t know that the ring looked like or when. (I found the ring box, but didn’t open it. It was so hard, but I didn’t want to ruin his surprise.) I called him after class feb 13, 2012 to tell him that I might not make it home because there was a blizzard that day. But he begged me to come if I could, so I tried and made it there.
I just sat down on the sofa, tired from being in school and working the night before and started doing homework in front of the TV. Then he sat down next to me and started to tell me about the day that he realized that he was in love with me. Before I knew it, he pulled out a little green velvet box and opened it so I could see my ring. Of course I said yes. Sadly, I had to leave right away so that I could make it out of the subdivision so I could be sure to make it to work the next day. The reason he picked that day was because it was the anniversary of the day that he realized that he was in love with me. Later on, he told me that the plan was to propose to me under the starry sky that night and have a romantic dinner. But so is the story of our lives together.

My now Fiance and I had been together for quite a long time-there was even a break-up in there where we really took time apart. Old Town Alexandria is a special place to us..it’s where we shared our first kiss 🙂 He had been asking for a few weeks when I was free to go out to dinner, but things kept coming up (something with me, or an ill dog that required many vet appointments!) Going out was common for us, but I sensed that he wanted to take me to a nicer dinner than we normally go to. We finally pick a date and he picks me up, doesn’t tell me where we are going, and then we arrive at a very nice restaurant overlooking the water.
We eat a nice dinner and have a drink and then take a walk down by the water. A side note, the entire time he had this medium sized box wrapped in Christmas Wrapping Paper (in June) and was carrying it in a larger shopping bag. I had seen the box and knew it was for me a few times prior, but wasn’t sure exactly what he had going on with it. We find a nice little bench, sit down and he hands me my “present”. I start to open it and am laughing all the while doing it..there it was..my ring..in a ring box in the bigger box. I honestly can’t remember all that he said, but I do remember the “Will You Marry Me?” and I did get out “Yes” (after I laughed and told him he should be on one knee), Also, by this time..it was dark, so it was nice when we got into a streetlight and I could finally really see my ring!

We went to my parents house for christmas and on December 23, it started snowing. In Texas…strange. AND it was the only place in the US that snowed for christmas! Anyways.. once it started snowing, he took our dog and I on a walk around the pond in my parents neighborhood. We got to the dock of the pond and he kneeled down to play with our dog and told me to come over and look at something. (Our dog has bad allergies and always has watery/scabbed eyes) so I went over in a panic…then I saw my ring attached to his collar. He got a dogtag made that said “Will you marry FI?” It was the perfect christmaseve-eve ever, and I love that he included my first love- our dog 🙂
AND my ring 🙂

@mylittleviolett: I will admit, the thought crossed my mind! I thought it would be odd for me to be around my ring so much, that and I knew that unwrapping/wrapping again would be too much work 🙂 Funny part is that he had that thing with him on random occaisons and I never knew!

I went up to change after work, and when I came down I can hear him telling our 14 month out son “give this to mommy” and when I came around the corner, he had it around his thumb…. it was adorable. Then my Fi asked “will you marry me?” I said yes, and then my son fell into the couch… lol

Fiance was packing up his car to go to the Notre Dame-Purdue Football game and he took a little too long (retrospectively) in the front seat of the car (He was getting the ring from the glove box). He spun around and proposed to me right then and there, in my PARENTS DRIVEWAY! After I got over the initial shock, he then told me he had sold his ticket and would be spending the rest of the weekend with me (we’re LDR) So, in one fell swoop I became his Fiancee and as important and ND football! I don’t know which one suprised me more!

We were vacationing in NYC and he popped the question on the ferris wheel at Toys R Us, Times Square. Then he had hired a photographer to do engagement pictures in Central Park the next day. It was amazing.
Sorry, I dont have pictures of just my engagement ring on this computer, so here is my ring with the wedding band.

We went to celebrate our 2 year anniversary on Super bowl because one, we didn’t really care for the superbowl because our teams weren’t playing and two becasue our anniversary fell on a Tuesday and we both work until 6pm. Every year we go back to our waterfall at Red Rock, Nevada. It’s a tradition we started. We had a wonderful picnic, sandwhichs and chips with juice under our waterfall. Might I add the waterfall around this time of year is little so we are able to sit under it. We were there for a few hours to take pictures for our portfolios and enjoy the outdoors. We were getting ready to leave when he said ” I know it’s a few days early but I have your anniversary present.” I was excited so he gave me a box and when I opened it, there in a box sat a pair of diamond earings. I have never in my life owned diamonds so I was excited and distracted to notice he was getting on his knee. Becaue when I moved the earings he was on his knee opening the box and then thoe words came out, “Will you Marry me?” I was so excited I was speechless and a “Yes” came out. As he screamed “SHE SAID YES” in the mountains. It was amazing!! Not to mention the ring was beautiful and so me.
The only picture I have of my engagement ring right now lol.

@mylittleviolett: Awww, what a sweet and romantic proposal! And what a great thread idea! You made me realize I’ve never actually posted my proposal story here! So here goes:
We were sitting at my old apartment late at night (around 1:00 am), both working on our computers. I was doing doc review (fun!), and I thought he was working on a video for the tech website he wrote for at that time. The TV was on for background noise, and after the chef show ended he flipped it off, but he still had headphones in. I was sitting in silence and a little annoyed, so I asked him (a little bitchily, to be honest) what was he listening to, and said “I want to listen too.” He said “You want to see what I am working on?” I said sure, thinking nothing of it.
He got up, plugged the speakers in, and played this, telling me I couldn’t turn around until I saw the words “turn around” on the screen:
It was my birthday week, so I thought he made me an awesome e-card at first, but by the halfway point, I knew what was happening 🙂 I was nodding like a crazy person with tears streaming down my face when the three questions hit, and when the words turn around finally came up (it felt like ages, even though it was only 2 minutes!), I could barely contain myself. I turned around to find him down on one knee, holding a little wooden box, and he told me how much he loves me and how he can’t wait to spend our lives together. I was completely sobbing with happiness by this point 🙂 When he finished talking and said “Sarah, will you marry -” I didn’t even let him get the last word out! I jumped on him with a giant hug and a “YES!!!” and cried and laughed and cried and was just SO indescribably happy. After a few minutes of happy hugging and kissing, he asked me again, with all the words this time, I said YES, and put the amazing ring on my finger 🙂
This was the first picture I took of it 🙂

Oh very fun!
My Darling Husband proposed at the base of Bridalveil Falls in Yosemite National Park. We go twice a year and this was during our annual New Year’s Eve getaway. It was snowing like crazy with feet of snow all around us, even the waterfall was turning into snowflakes. He knelt down in the snow and proposed.
Here is where he proposed (photo taken right before he kneeled down):
