blt982:  When I was a waiting bee I was obsessed with over the top proposals! In reality, my Fiance proposed in a very down to earth, very us, way.

He came home (we live together) from grocery shopping. Usually I do the grocery shopping but I wasn’t feeling that great so he did it that day.

He came in and put the bags on the floor. I started putting away groceries, just doing my thing. Then he was like, ” babe! babe! look at me!” and I was all, “sweetheart, you’re in the way, get out of the way I’m trying to put the damn cheese in the fridge!” Haha, he was like, “no! stop! look at me!!!” I look down, with a giant block of aged cheddar in my hand, and he’s down on one knee with a ring. Hahaha! He asked me to marry him with his hand shaking like crazy and I just screamed and hugged him. Then he was like, “you didn’t say yes!!!” I laughed through my tears and shouted “YESSS!!!!” right in his ear, practically deafening him.

It wasn’t until a minute or two later that I even looked at the ring or realized what was actually happening.

Before I was engaged I would have thought this kind of proposal was anti-climactic and not romantic enough. But in real life, it was so mind blowing. We spent the entire night cuddled up on our couch smiling like crazy and staring at my gorgeous new ring. Then he told me all about finding it, about all the places he had gone to look for it, why he chose it for me, etc. It was so sweet and unforgettable.

My fiance isn’t all that romantic he likes to do little suprises here and there. On our anniversary it started out a not so fun day because electricty at our house went out the night before and it was July so it was hot.

My fiance took the day off from work and we packed to go to his parents house. His parents had a pool so I got a chance to go in the pool while our 3 month son napped. We had planned to go out to have a nice dinner later that evening just the two of us. We were planning lobster because we don’t eat lobster very often. My fiance said we had to go to the mall. I said why do we need to go to the mall for? I want to go out to dinner. So we took our son in his stoller he was sleeping the whole time into a jewelery store at the mall and he was telling the lady we were looking for engagement rings and that is how we got engaged.

He proposed on a Florida vacation by spelling out “will you marry me” in the sand while I was in the shower. Then brought me down to the beach to show it to me.

i totally thought he was just showing it to me because it was cool. I didn’t know what was happening until he got down on one knee!

it was perfect!

blt982:  My Fiance took me to see a huge Christmas light display at a botanical garden in our hometown. It was gorgeous, and romantic, and perfect. I’m pretty sure he said something that the lights were beautiful and lit up the night, just like me and how I light up his life. I cried. A lot. Apparently I squeaked a lot and just hugged him lol. The only problem was that it ended up dropping down to -10F that night, so he was pretty darn cold. We did go inside for hot chocolate after where I cried some more.

blt982:  At the time DH proposed I was working at a bank and had to work weekends sometimes. It was a Saturday, the week for Thanksgiving and he had a dentist appt. I got out of work, text him and said “hey I just got a spot outside the dentist office, I will wait for you and drive you home” He text me back saying ” I am still in the chair, gonna be awhile, just go home”. So I thought to myself, well I have to pick up some things for baking for Thanksgiving, so I will go home after that.

So about 40 mins later, I head home and I hear my dog run to the door. So I thought my mom must be home from PA bc usually my dog stays in the back of the house. I open the door and my dog Daisy has a note with a bow around her collar and I thought that my mom was being cute and left me a note on how to make zucchini pie for the 100th time. So I open the letter and this is what it reads:

Dear Mommy,

You’ve always wondered what I could say if I could talk.

Well I can’t talk so I picked up this pen with my little paw and wrote you this letter.

In case you haven’t noticed, I love David soooooo much and it would make me the happiest little puppy in the world if you were to make him my Daddy, so will you please marry him? Say Yes! Say Yess!!!!

Love Daisy

I read the letter like 5 times bc I couldn’t believe what was happening and I hear footsteps behind me and its DH and I say “how did you get in my house?!” We didn’t live together at the time. He said, I will explain. He made this nice speech and I don’t remember it bc I blacked out. All I remember is him getting down on one knee and asking me to marry him and seeing this gorgeous ring.

He had made a copy of my key one night earlier in the week when he went to the store for me. I lived with my mom at the time nad he would come over and have dinner. He pulled this off perfectly. I couldn’t believe it

Below is the picture of the letter, and our STDs which has my dog with the bow looking out the window waiting for me to come home.

Another botanical garden proposal — we were planning on taking a daytrip out of town, so we were up early getting ready. DH said he wanted to stop by the botanical garden before we left town, as we both love the garden and it’s one of the first places he took me when we started dating (we lived in another state at the time, and the garden, where we live now, is DH’s hometown). It was the 2nd week of November and the weather was beautiful, and I figured it was probably the last nice day we’d have until winter was over, so I thought it was a great idea. We got the the garden and walked around for about 30 minutes, just talking. We ended up in a gazebo up on a hill. The view was beautiful. All of a sudden, DH started getting really nostalgic and giddy, and before I had time to realize what was going on, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. I don’t remember what happened after that, but DH says I threw my hands over my mouth and froze for about 10 seconds until he nudged my hand with the ring box. Then I took it, said yes, we hugged, yada yada. 🙂 We both called our families right away and then stopped by his parents’ house for a celebratory glass of wine before we left town. It was perfect.

We were at a New Years party at his cousins house. He got down on one knee during the countdown to midnight and said that he wanted to start the new year off right with a kiss from his future wife. He told his sister about 10 min before and she was about 8.5 months pregnant so she burst into tears and hoped I wouldn’t notice. She got some blurry but sill awesome action shots of the proposal.

The the funniest part of the whole thing was I actually had a wedding related blow up at him while we were getting ready for the party. In the car earlier he had made a big stink about a jewelery store commercial on the radio and was saying jerky things about marriage etc. I flipped out at him and yelled at him about how he didn’t have to be a dick just because I was excited to spend the rest of my life with him.  I then almost started crying while straightening my hair.

Afterwards he said the hardest thing he’s ever done was keep a straight face while I got mad.

My Fiance proposed on a weekend trip to see family.  We live in different states, so I picked up him from the airport, then we went to dinner.  We got back to the hotel and the room was all decorated with roses, champagne, etc.  He started getting ready for bed so I did too, then we got into bed and I started trying to get frisky while he was giving me a massage.  Welp, he made me stop and proceeded to propose!

It was a Sunday afternoon.  Extremely hot outside.  He wanted to go for a walk in the park and was really acting strange about what time we were going, etc.  I thought he was losing his mind.

I remember turning around and seeing him on one knee.  I thought he had fallen over!!

blt982:  Oh I’ll share!

We lived in Arizona at the time and I had absolutely no idea it was coming.

We liked to drive through the mountains while we lived out there and there is this overlook spot (my avatar picture is the exact spot he proposed) that is my favorite place so he decided we should take a drive through the mountains one sunday in March with our daughter and after getting lost and almost stuck in the desert on some random, no name road we made it to our spot and as we were looking out onto the mountains, he grabbed my hands and brought our daughter over and im gonna be honest, I don’t remember what he said to me, I just rmember that he asked and I cried and said yes!

Apparently he had tried for months to plan something (hot airballon ride, day trip to vegas,  etc) but our work schedules kept interferring so he decided to do something much more low key and it was wonderful! He didn’t hint at anything and didnt seem nervous at all!

swonderful:  I was the exaxt same way. I would obsessively read about ridiculous over the top you tube worthy proposals and I wanted all the pomp and circumstance.

My proposal was the exact opposite and it was perfect.
