Another botanical gardens proposal here! We had just gotten back from spending Christmas with my family and I found cheap tickets to see the holiday lights at the gardens, so I snappd them up before they could sell out and asked Mr Trilly if he was interested in going as a pre-NYE date night. He said sure. When we went he waited til 5 minutes before closing when we were in the darkest area with absolutely no one around to break out the ring and ask if I would do him the singular honor of becoming his wife.

I love proposals stories. I got proposed to inside the castle at disneyland. My fiancé told me our family and friends think he’s going to pop the question But he wanted to tell me he wasn’t going to so I wasn’t let down And he gave me an Alex and ani I cried and didn’t get it. Should have knowN. Part of me thought it but I was like nah! lol  Later in the day he wanted to take me to the Snow White fountain but it was closed. Haha so he improvised and took me In the castle. It was perfect ! i couldnt have asked for a better story ! I had the Best day ever after that and we stayed at the disney hotel and they gave us champange and cookies. So fun  ah

It’s always worth the wait πŸ™‚

Fiance took me to a historical park as a surprise. I had been bugging him for ages to take me there. He insisted we dress up, so he was in khakis, a polo, and nice dress shoes, while I was in a dress and ballet flats. Well, low and behold, it rained earlier that day, so the ground was completely muddy, and it was actually more like a walking trail than a park. It still ran along the water and had several historical points, not to mention a sunken garden and a butterfly garden.

I’ve been obsessed with gardens all my life and I always said I wanted to get married in a garden, live in a house with a massive garden, and just garden the rest of my life. Fiance led me along the different paths until we made our way into the butterfly garden. It was breathtaking. At that point, I was admittedly a little sweaty and grumpy, but my mood did a complete 180 when I saw the garden. I was oohing and ahhing over everything and I hadn’t even realized that he dropped down to propose when my back was turned, but I completely walked away from him, so he had to get up, follow me along the path again and then drop down again to propose. When I turned around I was so surprised, but then I started laughing because the ring was upside down in the box, so Fiance had to stop, flip it over, and then start proposing again. It was very sweet and so, so perfect!

I hope this isn’t too gushy!

It was a complete suprise. We’d been best friends for 11 years, but only dating for 10 months. We went on a family vaction to Disneyworld (my first time!) and over dessert in Belle’s castle our first night, the waiter brought out plates that spelled “Will you marry me?” He had the ring out by the time I realized what was happening. He had “Just Engaged” pins and a photo package waiting for us, so we spent the rest of the trip doing our first round of engagement photos (!!) and sharing our news!

It was a magical, over-the-top proposal. I’m very laid-back so it felt really special that he’d planned all this out. Honestly, what I remember most is that he’d ordered coffee with dessert. He handed it to me after he put the ring on my finger and I realized he’d put cream in it (my thing, not his) because he knew I’d want it to steady my nerves. πŸ™‚

What’s funny is that everything had gone wrong that morning- he got off work late (he works night shift), our flight was cancelled so we got separated from his family, luggage lost, the flight made me sick… you name it. I thought he was grouchy, but he was just so nervous. I didn’t cry (too surprised!), but he was in tears with relief after I said yes. πŸ™‚

blt982:  it was September and the leaves were starting to turn colours and fall. He took me up to a spa resort for the weekend for a small getaway. We had gone to the saunas, stream rooms, outdoor hot tubs and we had a couples massage. We went back to our private room with a small balcony and hot tub attached.  We sat in the hot water while leaves continued to fall around us,  the air was crisp and everything was quiet. He started on about our relationship which sounded like he was giving a speech.  I didn’t think anything of it until he pulled a little black box from behind him. He said ‘I love you and will always love you. Will you marry me? ‘ I was shocked, all I could do was wildly nod my head yes! He said ‘I guess that’s a yes?’ And then I screamed yyyyyyeeeesssssssss! It wasn’t on one knee like I always pictured,  but this private moment was ‘us’.

We went on vacation to Hawaii back in August. It was our second time going and we’ve been talking about going back for the past 4 years. I was hoping it would happen in Hawaii because I had a special connection there. Both of my parents have passed away and that’s where they went on their honeymoon.

Our last day there we decided to hike Diamond Head. It was the only hike we went on the first time we were there so we saved it for last this time. My parents have a ton of pics of Diamond Head from their honeymoon so he decided to do it there. I thought it was going to happen earlier in the week when we did a sunrise hike but it didn’t so I was nervous after that. I thought he might do it until we got to the top and there were about 100 people up there lol.

I hid under this bunker is a less croweded area and he came and sat with me. He said that after this couple moved he wanted to take a pic. He handed my phone to some random guy and told him he was going to propose and to keep taking pics. We took a normal pic and then he started telling me how it was so pretty there and he never wanted to leave but he wanted to know if I would be his lady forever! He has NEVER called me his lady and he meant to say “would you be my b forever” but he was so nervous and lady came out haha. We joke about it now! After that, we hiked back down and went to the blow hole, which was probably our favorite place on the island and he called his family! We just hungout there and talked about it and I cried lol

Oh, and before we left to go on the hike we discovered that my debit card had been stolen the night before and used. He felt horrible because he was the one the lost it and he was stressed because he was about to propose. We had to handle that before we could leave and he was so upset. I was acting like it wasn’t a big deal so I was wondering why he was acting so weird about it haha

Fiance had my secretary clear my calendar and called me at work around 10am to tell me to come downstairs because he was “stealing me away for the day.” He drove us to the airport where we took a helicopter to a winery in Napa where we had lunch by a lake (that’s where he popped the question). We had a private tour of the winery and a tasting and then took the helicopter back.

It was more than I ever, ever expected (my only proposal “criteria” was that I didn’t want it to be in front of a crowd). For a guy who always relies on me to make plans for things, I was amazed that he had arranged all of it just for me. Best day of my life (so far!) for sure.

blt982:  Ooooh! I’ll share!!

The Thursday before Labor Day, his friend called to ask if we’d like to spend the weekend with them at his dad’s lake house. It was pretty short notice, but we were excited to go. I worked all day Friday and Fiance packed up the car while I was at work and we left as soon as I got home (what I didn’t know at the time is that my now-FI decided on Friday morning that it was time, so he went out and bought the ring that same day).

We got there and unpacked and Fiance immediately suggested we go down to the dock so I can see the lake. It was really sweet…I made some offhand comment about not letting me fall in since I wasn’t wearing a life jacket and he replied something like, “I will always be here to save you from drowing”. We got to the end and I remarked about how beautiful the night was since you can see so many more stars once you’re out of the city and he got all corny and said something along the lines of, “you’re more beautiful than the stars” … that’s when I started to really realize that something was up because, while he’s always incredibly sweet, he was being over-the-top romantic.

I saw him reach in his pocket and pull out the box and he started to get down on one knee when suddenly, some random guy comes strolling up the dock. My now-FI looked like a deer in headlights as he froze there, half-kneeling/half-standing while some stranger tried to jump into conversation with us. (“beautiful night isn’t it?” “Want me to turn on the docklights? You can see all the fish if you turn on the lights.”) After a very awkward 30 seconds, we managed to convince the guy that we were perfectly fine in the dark and he left….and Fiance finished up his proposal.

We went back to the house to tell our friends the news and less than half an hour later, were introduced to the next door neighbor, who appologized profusely when he realized that he’d interrupted the moment of proposal. The thing is…it was absolutely perfect. We think the whole thing was hilarious and so real and just right.

My Fiance did a very good job with the proposal πŸ™‚ long story short for Valentine’s day I gave him hand-made coupons with different stuff written on it, which he could redeem from me. One coupon was left empty for him to use on whatever he wanted

Then 6 months later he took me to Barcelona(first city we visited together as a couple two years before that)  as a birthday present(it turned out this wasn’t the main reason for the trip ;))  And at the end of our first day he took me for a walk past Mountjuic fountains up the hill, where you can see the whole city. So he found a bench in the park overlooking  Barcelona, gave me his wallet and asked to take something out from one of the pockets. In the pocket there was the previously empty coupon that now read ‘Love me and be mine forever’ and then he got on one knee. It was a magical evening and a perfect proposal πŸ™‚

He proposed on a Memorial Day trip at the end of a picnic lunch. He planned the whole trip, which was a tipoff that the proposal was going to happen. We know each other so well.

DH is from Maine and we had traveled there to celebrate an early Christmas with his family last year.  I had asked for a new winter jacket as my gift and the day before he proposed, we went shopping at LL Bean where he purchased one for me. We had planned to open gifts with his family the next day so as a joke, he wrapped my jacket for me to open even though I had worn it out of the store.

The next day after opening my other gifts, he handed me my wrapped jacket as my last gift and I jokingly acted surprised and tried it on again for his family to see. I noticed there was something in the pocket, so I reached in and it was a ring box!  For a few seconds I thought he had gotten me earrings, but his brother’s girlfriend let out a gasp and it was then that I realized he was standing in front of me with a big grin on his face. I opened it to find my beautiful ring and he proposed to me in front of his family.

His mother was the only one who knew he was going to propose, and luckily she got it on video because I couldn’t even remember what he had said to me before the “will you marry me” part.

My husband and I had been working with my family jeweler over email to pick out a stone for my ring. We finally picked one after a few months of back and forth and were going to fly to pick it up.. After another few months of our schedules screwing us over and having no time to go away, the stars alligned and we found a few days to get away.

We went to the jeweler as soon as we landed, looked at the stone, he showed me the setting and then, we went for lunch with plans to pick the ring up afterwards, once it had been sized.

I had been so involved in the process and we had already told all of our family and close friends that we were getting married, so I didn’t expect to be surprised. I just expected to slip the ring on my finger, spend a few days working on my tan, and eating delicious french food with my fiance. The store was near closing and we were having drinks so he ran down to grab the ring, he came back a bit later and told me that they got really busy and he couldn’t have it ready until tomorrow morning. I was sad inside but, we were staying at an adorable hotel on the beach so I changed my tune and became excited about just being on vacation.. I had been waiting months, what’s another day?

As soon as we got into the room I went right outside to look at the view and the sun happened to have been setting.. I turned around to call for him to come out and see the sunset and he was down on one knee with my beautiful ring.

He said the sweetest things that I barely remember.. I told him to stop because he started to cry and said YES about 100x. Then we drank my favorite champagne and went to my favorite restaurant for dinner. After dinner we brought some wine down to the beach and lay in the sand talking about our wedding.. It was perfect.

Mine was very low key, he was working early hours at that time and had to get up around 4am to make the commute. While I was sleeping he slipped the ring on my finger and then nudged me awake. I was really blurry eyed and asked him what he wanted.. lol

He whispered it in my ear πŸ™‚ I dont even think I said yes, just threw myself into his arms and went back to sleep.

My Fiance proposed at Mid Ohio Comic Con during a photo op with Eliza Dushku! It was perfect and we have tons of wonderful pictures of it.
