I think this is a great idea! πŸ™‚ My man proposed to me Christmas Day infront of my parent’s and sister. The week before he asked my dad for my hand and he ended up telling EVERYONE in my family (all my cousins, aunts and uncles which is a ton!) and his what he was planning…I was the only one that had absolutly no idea. Then when Christmas moring came, I was opening gifts with my parents and sister when he came over to “open gifts” with us. He got me to stand up and centered me infront of the lazyboy incase I fainted LOL, said a little speech that made me cry and then got down on one knee and asked! It was the most sweetest thing ever and I couldn’t stop crying (I’m starting to now HAHA)

Anyways, there’s my story! Our wedding in on August 13th, 2011 so the planning is underway! πŸ™‚

Haha… my Fiance and I went the unconventional route.  I was with him when we found “THE RING”.    He honestly didn’t stand a chance at that point, and he brought it home on 12.23.2009.

Then we were on vaca with my parents when he asked my dad (12.29.2009)- which was the unofficial proposal, because my parents told me while he was in the bathroom when we were all out to dinner that night!!

We got the ring set two months later (03. while we were at my parents house for en escape weekend when they weren’t home.

He FINALLY proposed two weeks after that at our apartment in an adorable way…

He addressed my birthday card (which I received the day before my birthday on 03.25.2010) “To My Beautiful New Fiance”… I was speechless, and then asked if I was supposed to finish reading the card!!  He got on his knee and asked me to be his wife.

My Fiance and I met in Venice, Italy during our abroad program in law school so he had to go pretty far to make the proposal anywhere near as romantic but he did a great job!  We went on vacation to Punta Cana with his parents back in February and he asked me while taking a walk on the beach at sunset.  Of course I was completely oblivious and when he asked me to take a walk, I kept telling him I didn’t feel like it.  He practically had to drag me out of my lounge chair so he could ask me at sunset like he planned…LOL!

My FH proposed in bed! This past May we were working on a huge renovation project to our backyard. He was planning on proposing in the afternoon while we were working in the yard with our families there helping. But then my Mom wasn’t going to be there and then he forgot that I had an appointment that afternoon… So he decided to propose first thing in the morning! We were waking up early to go rent a stone cutter. So I woke up around 6:30am and turned over to see him smiling at me. He said he loved me, asked me to marry him and pulled out the ring box from under his pillow!! He also booked a hotel room for us that night.

I get funny looks sometimes after I say that he proposed in bed – but I think it was super sweet!! Waking up at 6:30am definitely maximised my hours of engagement day happiness! And now when I wake up and roll over, I always think about the proposal and how much my FH loves me!

My fiance tricked me, well had my aunt trick me into thinking we were visiting her church for friends and family day. On the way (2 states away) he pulls off the interstate telling me there was no friends and family day, but we were going on a date. He takes me to a random home of a couple who gives hot air balloon rides. While 2000 feet in the air, he starts telling me how lucky he is to have me. He then drops the ring box over the side of the balloon into the woods. I was in a panic.  As I’m looking over the side, he gets on one knee with the ring in hand and asks me to be his wife. Of course I said YES! The balloon crew threw a little reception for us once we landed. It was the best day!

@OurWedding:

He brought me to the park where we’ve had so many of our “almost” dates before we realized we were dating and where earlier that summer he carved our initials into a tree.

He pulled out the box and asked me if I’d grow old with him (one of our favorite couple songs is “I wanna grow old with you” by Adam Sandler).

My fiance (so weird!) and I have been dating for 5 years & have been talking about getting married for quite some time now.  I’ve gone through the ups & downs that most women in long term relationships w/o being engaged go through – you know, the total melt downs involving crying & threats, and questions about yourself & the relationship. Was it worth it?!? No!! And thankfully it’s over now  πŸ™‚

My birthday was the beginning of October, and the week before the Mr. told me he was planning a birthday surprise for the Saturday before my birthday.  He said it involved hiking & leaving at 8:30 in the am, and that it would be the best birthday ever.  That’s all he would say, and the whole week I complained telling him that I didn’t want to go hiking for my birthday, that it was a great idea if it was HIS birthday.  Still, in the back of my mind I thought maybe, just maybe it would be the day (only because about a month earlier he told me if he asked me it would be on top of a 14er)! Instead of hiking he had planned a 4-hour horse-back trip through the hills (with a guide).  Well, we finished riding the horses, ate lunch up there, and drove home. Nothing. I was sad.  We were exhausted sitting on couch and he just said ‘will you marry me?’.  I was bummed.  There was no profession of his love for me, nothing romantic, nothing like the movies.  There wasn’t even a ring.  I of course said yes, saying to myself ‘this is it!??!!’.  I had to remind myself that he did plan a wonderful day & he asked me in his own way.  He did tell me that he was planning on asking while riding the horses, but never got the chance to get away from the other people in our group.  Now that it’s a month later I love how it all went down…it was us. No crazy frills, which is how we are anyway.

His mother called the next morning and said that she is going to be giving us her diamond (currently on a gold chain) from her wedding ring before the 25 year upgrade & that we can pick out the setting.  I was thrilled! I am so happy that my ring will be meaningful & that his parents are doing something so cool.  We picked out my ring this past weekend and I LOOOOVE!

@ms. rice crispy treat: Hi date twin!!  You’re the first other August 14th-er I’ve seen.  Cool story!

Fiance and I had gone up to Victoria, BC to run the marathon there last October.  The night before the race, we went to Butchart Gardens.  We spent an hour and a half walking around in the pouring rain, unsuccessfully sharing an umbrella.  He finally found a shelter in the Japanese Gardens, where we sat for awhile.   Then, he put his hand in a pocket in his coat that he doesn’t usually use, and it looked weird.  “What are you doing?” I said.  “Keeping my hand warm,” he said.  What he was really doing:  getting out the ring box!  A few minutes later, he got one one knee and proposed.  We were very wet, but very happy!!

And then then next day I ran a marathon wearing an engagement ring!

My fiance and I had talked about getting married for a while and we had even gone and looked at rings together and everything. I though for sure it was going to happen on our aniversary on october 16th. I kept trying to make plans with him for that weekend because i was getting mad that he didnt have anything special planned! He kept blowing it off! Meanwhile kept insisting that we go on a day trip to cape cod to visit his family there a couple of weekends before. I’m like wth can’t we just wait and do that for our aniversary! but finally i was like ok whatever and we woke up that morning and drove to cape cod, which is one of my favorite places that we’ve visited alot together.  He first took me to the Heritage plantation which has really nice gardens and scenery. the whole day he was acting strange, like in his own little world but i didn’t think anything of it! So he took me to the little vine maze that they have and he told me to go through first and then he would go through and we would see who did it fastest!  So i went through and as i came out he was standing there and got to his knee with a ring and asked me to marry him:-) I completely underestimated him!

My Fiance and I started dating 7 years ago; we havnt been together the entire time but we were each others first bf/gf. We had our first kiss on a railing outside of our church. On our 3 year anniversary we stoped by our old church for old time sake and sat on the railing where we had our first kiss. He kissed me then got down on one knee πŸ™‚

We met on the fourth of July one year. So the next year during the fourth of July fire works at the finale he got on one knee behind me and tapped me. I turned around to see him on his knee with my beautiful ring in his hand. It was the perfect moment for us. πŸ™‚

It was the sweetest thing ever to me… he made reservations at the Hampton Inn hotel with whirpool, beautiful room.  (This was our second time doing so) It was new year’s eve.  Once the ball dropped after we counted down together, he put his hand under the pillow I was resting against.. grabbed a black picture frame and told me he had a poem to read to me.  The poem was completely made up by him, word for word.  It had about four paragraphs, ten words or less each, all in rhythm, and the last paragraph read… “You are the best thing ever in my life, will you take this ring and be my wife?”  I put my hands over my mouth and cried like a baby, he was down on one knee, pulled a gorgeous 3 1/2 karat white gold ring.  I, of course, said yes!  =)  We are to be wed this August 6 and I am SUPER excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!
