Hello Bees 🙂
Something I’ve been wondering for a while now, cos there is definitely no common way for couples to start a relationship these day – I’ve heard it all!!!! Couples who were high school sweethearts, couples who started off as ‘friends-with-benefits’, couples who met online, couples who were set up – you name it!!!
So I’m curious as to how peoples relationships started. The actual story. My SO and I for example met through a mutual friend at a party. We became friends but it didn’t become anything more and I started seeing this other guy (who was a total d*ckhead). All through mine and D*ckhead’s relationship, Fiance was there for me – he was my shoulder to cry on, he would stay on the phone with me all hours of the night trying to calm me down whenever D*ckhead upset me (which was VERY frequently), he would do random nice things for me to cheer me up 🙂 Then one day, while trying to cheer me up, Fiance asked me what my favourite song was. I told him, and then later forgot about it…
A week or so later he posted a video on my Facebook. Of him. He had looked up my favourite song, and learned how to play it on guitar so he could sing it for me <3 I think it’s pretty safe to say that after that, I realized that the only reason D*ckhead was treating me like sh*t was because I was letting him – so I dumped him. Fiance and I got together a little while after, and now we are two and a half months out from getting married 🙂
Your turn!!! 🙂
Oh, and in case you were wondering what the song was : ‘Feel Like Going Home’ by the Notting Hillbillies (or Charlie Rich, depending on which version you prefer 🙂 )

That is really cute! Ppl always say it hard going from friends to lovers, but it seems to be quite common, glad it worked out for you!

awww MrsRidley that is sweet.
He was my college roommate big brother (who is also my best friend). I went to her house one weekend and she told me I wasn’t allowed to anything with her brother (she had a friend who had and it ruined their friendship he could be a bit of a casanova)We got on like a housee on fire. We carried on talking when I left. But she had warned me off so that was it. Except there was drunken nights of a few cheeky kisses. That summer he asked her permission to date me and after she talked to me and gave us both strict rules. That was it. After we were together about 6 months me and her went back to normal.

One of my friends from high school was working at a local retail store and was dating a fellow employee. He was friends with my (now) fiance who had just broken up with his longtime girfriend.
They set us up because we were both big hockey fans …. And the rest is history!

We met while I was doing a six month work assignment in my company’s London office. I ended up staying for another 3 1/2 years (oops) and when I returned to NYC in 2012 he came with me and became my fiance shortly afterwards 🙂

He sold me a car. I felt something as soon as I met him but I tried to ignore it because he was my salesman and I wasn’t looking for a relationship. Then after getting the car I couldn’t keep away, I was always finding reasons to go to the dealership. About two months later he finally asked me out 🙂

we met in a starbuck’s parking lot.
i was on my phone in my car and he was slowly walking by checking out my car (it was brand new). my windows were really tinted so i don’t think he saw me in there. when i saw him, i thought, wow. i got out of my car and we started talking. we chatted as we walked into starbucks and he offered to buy me a coffee. we sat for 4 hours talking. he texted me the next day for another coffee date. the rest is history.
within a couple of weeks, we knew we were meant to be together. he proposed 3 months after meeting.

I’ve known my Fiance since grade school, but he was a year ahead of me and we didn’t talk much. We knew of each other and had mutual friends, but never had a chance to get to know each other real well.
Flash foward to 2010/2011 when I was actually dating a friend of his and I got to see and talk to my future Fiance on a semi-regular basis. After the relationship ended with my ex, Fiance and I started hanging out and we got to know each other through geocaching. At that point, I had been geocaching for about a year and since future Fiance is outdoorsy, he said he wanted me to teach him how to do it (but honestly I think he just wanted an excuse to hang out with me). We started geocaching together in the spring of 2011 and by the end of the summer, we were inseparable and have stayed that way ever since 🙂

We met through a coworker of mine. He came in to say hello to her one day (they had sort of dated about 8 years ago) and I walked past them on my way to the break room. Apparently he said “Whoa” and told my coworker to give me his number. I knew I was too shy to ever call, so I told her she could give him my number. He texted me that day and we met up for coffee the next day. Coffee turned into dinner which turned into watching a movie together.
We were instantly inseparable, and he asked me to marry him 6 months after we met 🙂

- Wedding: September 2014 - Lodge
I was roommates with his cousin. One night her and I were hanging out at the bar and she invited him to meet us. We hit it off right away and have been together ever since. He’s 9 years older than me and divorced. He only has 1 daughter. I have never been married and have 3 kids but he’s the perfect balance for me.

We met online! I was just clicking around OkCupid and went “You know what? I’m going to sort by friendship scores for guys over 6′!” And I was literally laughing to myself because I wasn’t looking for anything serious at ALL.
He was my top match! I saw his picture (which was awful and made him look about 40 and ugly) and something in my soul just clicked! I just KNEW he was going to be The One. We ended up e-mailing two or three times every day that week, and our first date was like magic.
I guess I was right! We’re getting married in May!

We met in high school during a class trip. I thought he was kinda cute, he liked laying on me…the friendship blossomed from there. We tried dating a little bit but it never lasted longer than a week or so because I felt uncomfortable around him…small population and they were all nosey. Fast forward 12 years later we’re still the best of friends (though a few times (in between the 12 years) we’ve lost contact but when we reconnected it was as though nothing changed and no time was lost. I realized how much I loved him and asked him out..he was receptive and the feelings were still mutua, it was kinda a relief for both of us. After a year of dating we’re engaged. So 13 years of friendship & being in love with the same guy, 12 years of being too frightened to make a move a 1 year of dating and in 17 months we’ll be married…if not sooner.

My boss, who is also his cousin, set us up!
We went to a movie, he kissed me goodnight, got my number and the rest is history.
3.5 years later and she still takes all the credit, lol.
