Posted a picture of Darling Husband and I with my hand held up to show off the ring and a status of “Officially engaged! Can’t wait to marry my best friend!”

We just changed our relationship status and people respond however they wanted. It was nice and simple!

@LobotomyParty:

Congratulations!!!

Hm, we got engaged March 31, 2013 on Easter, but Facebook still shows us as girlfriend and boyfriend. Smile So, our engagement is not “Facebook official”, lol! Tongue Out

I kinda just told others by private messages. As unusual as it sounds, there are people (I don’t even know) who would invite themselves to our wedding. (It’s a cultural/Asian thing; “Oh, I know your parents. I am getting an invite, right?”)

We have yet to make a Facebook annoucement. I’ve told all of my family and close friends personally and Fiance has told all of his family and close friends as well. I have thought about posting a pic of my ring though with the caption “my precious”. Also, I love cats (yes, I’m a cat lady) and have thought about posting a pic of a cat with a ring with the caption haz engagment ring. 😛 Then, there’s always the classic, “I’m getting married beyotchs!!!!!” <- I’m partial to that one.

He posted “I got down on one knee…”

He got a tremendous response from that!

He bought me a dozen red roses and took a photo of me in tears and so I posted that up 🙂

Most people on my FB just post a photo of their rings.

Would love to hear what you end up doing @LobotomyParty!

I posted a pic of my ring and changed my relationship status to engaged.  People “liked” and commented on one or the other.  No official announcement, but of course it was obvious.  This was all a couple weeks after we got engaged, after we told close friends and family and I received my ring

I’m a very private person, so I didn’t do anything. However, after sending out save-the-dates, I got a lot of “congratulations” on my wall, so I was outed after all.

I only posted our save-the-date picture after we had already been engaged for 15 months, lol, 3 months before our wedding date.

I suspected a proposal was coming and I planned to put “‘Future Mrs Yoshida’ has a good ring to it, don’t you think?”‘ a week or so after the proposal but when it actually came to it I was so excited that I only managed to wait 3 days (I’d told all my close friends and family) and put up a photo of the ring and said something ridiculously squealy like “The perfect sunset private beach proposal in America ♥ A dream come true!” Oops!

I think I will change my FB status to “engaged” once all of the important people (the ones that will be shocked)  know.  Most of my FB friends are distant relatives and everyone on my FB are people I REALLY know so I know my profile will blow up.
