My bridesmaids were a no-brainer, they’re my 3 closest friends (and my younger sister as MOH).  So I sent each of them a really nice ecard (http://www.123greetings.com/invitations/wedding/wed5.html) and I put a personal message letting them know that my fiance and I set the date (I had a long engagement) and would like to know if they would do me the honor of being my bridesmaid.  It was very well received.

I’m so glad you asked this question! I was just about to ask it! I have waited a long time to ask everyone in my party. (My engagement is for 2 years-one year left now!- and I wanted to wait awhile because you never know what awesome people may come into your life.) However, it’s kind of awkward now since it’s been so long. I asked one friend very randomly (fully intended to ask her and glad I did, but it was just awkward and not as special as I would have liked it. I was so nervous,) the other 2 I asked are my sisters (The 7 year old-juniorbridesmaid- I just asked while playing with her =) and my 18 year old sister I just asked on a car ride we were traveling alone) and I’m about to ask my future sister-in-law and my great friend since 3rd grade, who will hopefully be my Matron of Honor. I am going to go out to dinner with my good friend but I don’t know how to ask my sister-in-law. I want to make it special but I have waited a year to ask her and I don’t see her much…So, yeah, glad you asked. I’m looking for ideas, too!

I found this cute idea here on Weddingbee, but I can’t remember exactly where!  Since all my bridesmaids are spread out all over the US, I opted to have something fun to send to them.  I bought some cute headbands for each girl and attached to them a little tag saying, “Will you head down the aisle with me?”.  And I also included a card where I wrote them personalized notes on the inside saying how much they meant to me, etc.  I asked also to have them take a picture of themselves with the headband on and to e-mail it to me if they accepted, and I am hopefully going to include them on our wedding website :-).  However, even though they were all super-excited to be bridesmaids and called to tell me how happy they were, only 1 out of 4 have actually e-mailed me the photo, hehe!

I sent each girl a “Will You Be My Bridesmaid?” and 1 “Will you be my Maid of Honor?” cards…I had already asked most of them and the Maid/Matron of Honor but I wanted to formally ask and write a note about how much it would mean to me. They all loved them!

I did it different for each one. My my cousin, I bought a delicious. I wrote one the outside of box “Since I love you so much…” and on the inside of the box I wrote “Will you be my bridesmaid?”. For one I made a card that had the ugliest pink hello kitty dress on it, ect 🙂

A week or two after I got engaged, I went out and got these cute blank cards from Papyrus that had my wedding colors on them. I personally hand wrote how each of them are special to me in my life and then asked them to be my bridesmaid. I sent them all out by mail so they each got that surprise factor when they received it. They all said YES!

I plan on asking them in person/via phone, but I made them these:

DIY Bm cards!

I put a little poem in it and I’ll be sending a little gift with each that is specific for the girl in mind.

I was so excited when I got engaged I asked them all instantly…..I knew who I wanted from years of planning in my head.  When I called them to tell them I was engaged I asked them on the spot. I did have a fun way of asking my flower girl. I threw her a princess party and asked her. I have described being a bride, like being a princess so she could relate. I wore my old prom dress, bought bright colored tablecloth, balloons, princess decorations and all her favorite foods. The afternoon was a huge success. I have given her a “practice” basket and pedal and she is super excited and has been practicing since. She did tell me that she thought it would be better if I didn’t step on the petals. HAHA and when she gets to the front of the aisel, after skipping down, she turns and yells “ok your turn.” SO CUTE! I think its funny, I hope she does that for the wedding.
