- Wedding: October 2012
Today I sent out packages to 3 of my 4 bridesmaid’s asking them to be my bridesmaid’s and I couldn’t be more excited if I tried! (The fourth is my cousin and I have to send some other stuff to her so she’ll get hers soon enough, plus she already knows she’s in it)
How did I do it you ask? (You did right? Oh well, I want to share anyway cuz I’m so excited about it!)
Well I wanted to pay hommage to our proposal story (http://bios.weddingbee.com/topic/an-unforgettable-quest) by sending each girl a scroll and quest of her own since each one was a part of my own quest. (One wasn’t but my fiance had wanted her to be, there were just unforseen circumstances that prevented her from being apart of it) I worked on a light hearted poem for the scrolls and rolled them up over chalk wrapped in yellow tissue paper. I then went to Home Depot and picked up some paint samples of all shapes and sizes of the color scheme we’re going with, gray and yellow. At work I just happened to have boxes the would work perfectly for this project so I tissue lined the inside and placed the scrolls, printed on gray resume paper, over top a card that read their name and”read last” on the envelope. Inside each card was a personalized handwritten note about how much each of them mean to me and how happy I am to share this day with them. I also included a few of the paint samples so they could start looking for dresses. (I’m letting them pick their own) I had left over samples so I then used them for the top of the boxes to address. It’ll hopefully be a hint of what the package must be. Two of them expect to be asked but have no idea how I’ll do it and the third one doesn’t have a clue so I’m the most excited about her receiving hers. (They all live in Florida while I live and will get married here in Michigan in October 2012) The poem on the scroll reads:
Today you begin a quest…
Your quest shall require of you to display many a thing;
including patience and strength and a lot of understanding.
The journey will be long, involving many months of planning,
not to mention all the websites I’ll send to you for scanning.
Eventually you’ll leave the land of sunshine and palm trees,
destined to a northern town of falling colored leaves.
It will be required of you to wear a gown of yellow or gray,
sporting shoes sworn not to kill your feet as we enjoy the day.
You’ll be needed to assist, like holding my hair in case I vomit,
and especially my dress so I don’t accidentally pee upon it.
I’ll barrage you with questions, seeking constant reassurance,
and promise me you’ll later dance with unending endurance.
I can not imagine this journey without you by my side,
so I’m asking you to be my maid on the day I am a bride.
If you accept this quest—and please know I wish you to,
then take this chalk and text me with a written “I DO!”
How did y’all ask your bridesmaid’s???
