@Chelwilly:  That is such a cute idea! I am putting together a special little kit for each girl when we go for my bachelorette…when I asked them to be my Maid/Matron of Honor and Bridesmaids, I had these really pretty cards made up and wrote them each a really sweet and sentimental message. They are all very special to me, so I wanted to convey to them how much I love them!

my mom spilled the beans to my maid of honor before i had the chance to ask. she kept making comments like, “since you’re the maid of honor…” so i was like, “ok, well, in case you haven’t figured it out, i want you to be my made of honor…”

i asked one bridesmaid thru a text. we’ve been friends since kindergarten, so it was a given that she was going to be a bridsmaid.

i asked my other bridesmaid in person. we were just hanging out and i was like, “will you be a bridesmaid?”

it didn’t realize getting all fancy and creative about it was “a thing” until i started coming here, haha

Those are such cute ideas. I only have my sister as my maid of honor (small wedding) and I believe it went like ‘Oh, right, I suppose I should actually ask if you want to be my maid of honor.’ She laughed and said ‘Figured as much.’

I was messaging my best friend on Facebook about a month and half after I got engaged. I sent her this:

So… if it wasn’t obvious, I’d want you to be my maid of honor (or honour!!!), yes?”

I wasn’t fancy in the slightest! I’m pretty sure I asked my other two girls via Facebook too, but that’s usually how we communicate.

I did a take on a “will you be my bridesmaid” box. It had a note, some information about our day, vague information about my thoughts for attire, and a bit about each of the girls (because some of them don’t know each other). I also included a gift card to cover some of the small things associated with being a bridesmaid and pictures of dresses I had in mind for the bridesmaids.

I called them up and asked if they wanted to be my bridesmaid. If they were local, I’d have asked in person.

I really didn’t think about all the cute ways to ask mine. One I asked over Facebook IM because she wasn’t in the state at the time and the other I asked over the phone.

My Maid/Matron of Honor is getting married a few months before me and she made this really cute little book with everyone’s information, information about the wedding, the rehearsal and she put in a little paint swatch for us to choose our dress colors from.
