Also, FWIW, our first pregnancy (unfortuntely ended in MC), I had a onesie with our rival teams on it and gave that to him. He loved it–and of course, we’ve kept it.

I gave him his favorite Dr. Suess book with a little card that said “Roses are red. Violets are Blue. Inside me Beats. Two Hearts for You.”

Pinterest gave me all sorts of ideas though. One I was really close to doing was setting up a bunch of baby stuff (clothes, toys, etc.) in a display on our bed and acting really angry when he got home and telling him to “Go look and see what your dogs did!”

I went up to him right after I peed on a stick and said ”Hey, is this positive? I can see a squinter, can you?” lol. So original and creative.

Our first pregnancy ended as an Ectopic. With that pregnancy we’d been trying a year. I baked DH’s favorite cake – making one layer blue and one pink. I bake this cake a lot, so it was nothing unusual. After dinner he cut the cake, and at first couldn’t figure out why it was colored but then figured it out.

Our second pregnancy was a chemical. I told DH as soon as I saw a line on the test because after one loss I wasn’t about to do anything super cute. Neither of us could get our hopes up.

our pregnancies were a little different due to IVF.

for DS – after so many negative phone calls, i waited to listen to the voicemail with DH.

for current pregnancy – i wasn’t going to test early but ended up testing a few days before our beta since i started getting a reaction to the meds.  so when i got up to pee at 4am i took a test.  as i was leaving the bathroom, DH had gotten up to go too.  i hugged him and said we were pregnant.  he was still half asleep and wasn’t sure what i was saying. i said there is a test in the bathroom, you can look at that.  he still wanted to wait until our beta to confirm it was real.

We haven’t gotten our BFP yet, but have been ttc for over a year. I have been buying duck stuff over the last year and when it comes time to tell him I am going to surprise him with a basket of all the baby things and I have a duck card where I am going to write “our little Duckling is on the way”

We’ve been trying for almost 2 years so ive had lots of time to plan. When it happens for us, I plan to do a scavenger hunt. The first clue I’m going to put in the mailbox the night before so he’ll see it when we check the mail the next day. Some of the other clues will lead to “dad” related like Dads cookies, Pop tarts, Pop corn, etc. At the end, I bought a dad onesie that he’ll open.

I tested on our one month wedding anniversary and found out that day that we were expecting!  That night I asked him to take an anniversary selfie with me and instead of hitting the camera button, I had it on record. I said “Ready?  Ok say….I’m gonna be a daddy!” (instead of say cheese) and his reaction was so precious!!
