  • Wedding: June 2014

@excited1:  We knew we wanted an early summer wedding. I wanted a weekend where I already had my kids so there wouldn’t be a scheduling conflict and we had to make sure his kids were out of school as they’ll be traveling from another state. We went with the earliest possible date without too much timer pressure for us 6/7/14 🙂

@excited1:  We picked significant dates from our relationship and then tried to get as close as possible. We’re one weekend off our desired date but at least we got the venue we wanted. & now we will have a new date to celebrate 🙂

For us, it was more about finding the right venue. We had an idea of the time of year we wanted to get married but were fairly flexible with the exact date. We wanted the venue to be right for us and our guests.

  • Wedding: August 2013 - An amazing non-profit retreat

We went for August since it will more likely be warm and sunny, and we needed to pick an available weekend. My fiance said he liked the sound of August 17, so we went with it. Pretty regular.

  • Wedding: September 2013

We knew we were going to have a long engagement because both of us needed to get new jobs and we needed to find a place to live before the wedding.

So when we got engaged in 2011, we knew it would be 2013 until the wedding.

When it came to the month, that was a bit more difficult.

I LOVE spring and had always envisioned my wedding in April or May. But my fiance loves fall, and wanted an October wedding.

Soooooo ….. we sorta compromised and went with September. We knew we didn’t want winter because those are SO unpredictable in Pittsburgh, and both of us hate the heat, so summer wasn’t an option.

And when I really thought about it, April can still be pretty chilly around here and May is always so hectic anyway with Mother’s day, end of school, etc., so we went with September.

It will be our 7 year dating anniversary. Luckily, it worked out well for us with our venue!

  • Wedding: April 2014

we had some major complications with my FI’s brother and law school. He basically ruled out mid April – mid August 2014.  He said he would not be able to attend if it was in that time span (kind of a large spread). So we opted for 4/5/14.  I wanted a June wedding because I have a lot of teachers who would want to attend and they have summers off…but such is life I guess!

– EDIT: wanted 4/4/14 but it was all booked up….5 is my favorite number and it also happened to be a Saturday!

– EDIT AGAIN: Also, wanted to avoid hurricane season!

  • Wedding: March 2014

For us it was about finding a weekend that was far enough away from my graduation date so I wouldn’t be terribly stressed. I finish school in November, but don’t walk until January, and we get married in March. It also have FH plenty of time to be outside of his probationary period in his new job so he could comfortably take off a few days for the wedding. It’s also right before most of the colleges around here have spring break, so we will be able to have a pretty quiet honeymoon.

  • Wedding: May 2014

We got engaged late October 2012, and I knew I wanted a Spring/Summer wedding and 2013 just wasn’t enough time. I wanted to take our time planning. Plus, my family is paying for the venue so I wanted to give them time to save, as well as ourselves.

I chose June 2014 tenatively but then I realized our honeymoon destination has horrible weather in June (it rains in the Bahamas in June). So now I’m trying for mid May 2014.

Moral of the story: give yourself time to plan depending on how big of a wedding you’re going to have, and also consider the weather of your honeymoon destination!

  • Wedding: October 2014

We originally wanted a holiday. Our family isn’t big on holidays anymore, but we LOVE holidays.

At first we thought new years, but we were afraid no one would show up.. and that the accidents & cops out the night of new years eve are a pain.

Then we thought christmas eve, but we didn’t want to interrupt everyones holidays, and have his family deal with flying in through holiday traffic, ick!

We both REALLY love halloween, so we ran with it. We do feel bad that the kids won’t get to trick or treat, BUT – There will only be 5 kids under 18 years old, and we’ll have a large candy buffet with tons of snacks and goodies, so hopefully they won’t be TOO upset.

And we chose 2014, because its on a friday.

  • Wedding: July 2014

We wanted a summer wedding, since I am a teacher.  We got engaged on Christmas Eve 2012, so 2013 was out of the question, so 2014 it was! Our dating anniversary is July 10, and we wanted it to be as close as possible, hence how July 12 was born.  Also, I have a weird issue with numbers, as I like even numbers so it had to be the 12th, not the 5th or 19th. And the 26th is creeping too close towards August for my liking.

I’m a teacher, so I chose summer. I wanted it as soon as possible, so I chose June. But the first weekend is my mother’s birthday, and third weekend is close to my father’s, so I chose the one in between!

  • Wedding: May 2014

@excited1:  We were together since 2003 and never really had an anniversary or knew when it would be.  We got engaged on May 4, 2012 and we are getting married on May 4, 2014.  It was the first date of real significance to us.  ALso, when we were in the car before he popped the question I started making cheesy May the Fourth be with you references which my Fiance thought was funny. AFter that we pretty much figured 5/4 should be our date!
