For my color scheme, I had to make sure it would fit my dress color (as my dress is blush rather than white). That actually helped make it easier to pick, as it limited my options! Haha

I looked around on Pinterest, and also was thinking about the romantic garden venue my fiancé and I had picked. That ended up helping us a lot! So… Pinterest is a big recommendation of mine! 🙂

I actually picked our colors based on our wedding invitations (navy & copper foil). I talked it over with my FH and we settled on navy & burgundy with accents of copper/rose gold, blush pink, and white. We’re getting married in the summer, so we wanted to lighten it up a little bit. I agree with PP, Pinterest helped a ton!

dreamer925 :  My Fiance’ and I took both our favorite colors, Purple=me, blue=him and put them together and picked an accent color to include which was champagne.

So we ended up with Plum (dark purple) and Navy blue (dark blue), with champagne as an accent color.

Good luck hun!

I go to a lot of/see a lot of weddings with blush/burgundy color schemes so knew I wanted to stay far away from that.

I had always envisioned Navy for my wedding but when we decided to have a spring wedding I wanted something a little lighter (more “springy” if you will). Cue Pinterest searching and I landed on a dusty blue/light blue/sage green color scheme.

It did change a little after I picked my dress – I originally thought I would do a dusty blue/light gray color scheme but I ended up choosing a dress with a champagne underlay and didn’t like the idea of the champagne/gray combo.

My fiance wants purple, and I want teal. Our wedding is in the late summer (almost fall). Since we’re not going with fall colors, I think we’re just going to go with an analogous color scheme of purple, blue, and teal. I was thinking split complementary with teal, purple, and copper, but I feel like the teal and purple would have to match better to pull it off. Since we’re on a budget, this works better. Also, we’re not having a bridal party, so we don’t have to worry as much about it.

I also went with the “our favorite colors + neutrals” way of choosing, hahaha. Hubby went for navy blue and I love copper; then we just added brown and white because those where the main colors on our venue.

A good place to start is on pintrest. Go through wedding photos and pick the ones you like without much thought. After you have quite a few you’ll probably notice similarities. Maybe you picked mostly dark colors or pastels or shades of purple etc. Maybe you are drawn to modern themes or vintage ones etc. I did this and it really helped.

I looked at pictures of weddings in magazines and online and showed my fiancee my favorites and then we choose our colors. We already knew we were having a sophisticated fall evening wedding so that helped. We choose navy blue, white and gold for our colors based on that and the photos that we liked. Definitely choose colors you like (you’ll have the pictures forever) and something that fits the feel of your day. If we were having a spring wedding I probably would have wanted coral because I’ve always liked the color and it fits a spring wedding nicely. Also, consider your venu if you have one. It could help narrow things down for you. If your venu has some colors in it choose complementary colors for your wedding. It’ll make decorating much easier!

Navy blue is my favorite color and I knew I wanted bridesmaid dresses in that, my husband also really wanted a blue suit to get married in, so navy was what we started with. I looked on pintrest and was initially going to go for a blush/navy/white/green, etc. color scheme, but found a rose gold foil that I loved with the navy. I constantly wear navy with rose gold jewelery so when I floated the idea to my SO he was totally in! We did navy and rose gold and accented with white and other greenery. It turned out great!

I wanted a specific “mood” more than I wanted any particular color.  So I spent a lot of time on Pinterest doing process of elimination, and I talked a lot with my fiance about what kind of wedding we wanted to have in terms of theme, food, etc.  Then I started crafting a visual board of elements I really loved and could see myself including in the wedding, and narrowed down the main colors from that board.
