(Closed) How did you choose your wedding date?

It was totally random (i.e. when the venue was available)

    It was our dating anniversary

It was a significant date for our relationship (but not an anniversary)

Our date falls on our 10 yr anniversary, and has many multiples of 8 in it which is lucky by Chinese customs (FI is Taiwanese-Chinese), and it’s on a Saturday. Couldn’t be more perfect!!

We only had a few weeks that would work for us, between Fiance finishing school for the semester and starting his 2L internship (he’s in law school). We originally wanted one week earlier than what we’re doing, but the venue wasn’t available. Now, I’m kind of partial to our date (6/6), so I’m glad we ended up with what we did.

We want a fall wedding, and Fiance has THE. WORST. LUCK.  We chose 11/13/15 which is a Friday (Friday the 13th EEEK!) to turn an unlucky day into a happy celebration.  I also like the fact that it will be easy to remember.

We wanted a fall wedding, and I liked the sound of the date….no significance with the number or month or anything.

We really wanted late summer (so late August/early September), and then when we fell in love with our venue August 25 was the only free Saturday they had all summer, so it worked out perfectly! Plus, as a bonus it was a week before labour day, so I got an extra “free” vacation day for our honeymoon.

We originally wanted a February wedding as the weather is absolutely beautiful where we live at that time. We got engaged Feb 2014, so Feb 2015 was too close for us, so we originally chose Feb 2016 as our date. But then I started to worry family members would be snowed out as they would be coming down from New England, so we bumped it up to Oct 2015. We didn’t want early October, didn’t want Halloween, so October 24, 2015 it was!

    • Wedding: April 2014

We knew we wanted a spring wedding. And my DH travels a lot for work, so we had to pick a weekend where he had a few weeks off (we didn’t want him to drop me off from the honeymoon and then drive off to a race…a few of the dates we looked at, i would have been all alone at my first night at our house, b/c he would have to be at a race the weekend we got back from the honeymoon). We knew we wanted a Saturday, and there were a few saturdays we couldn’t do (due to other peoples weddings)…so we looked at the venue’s calendars of saturdays they had open in the spring, then crossed off the ones that didn’t work with DH’s schedule and our closest family’s schedule, and then one date was left…April 19! so thats what we went with.

We’d have a year to plan, it happened to be the same day of the month that Fiance proposed, and our venue had an opening!

We knew we wanted it before the holidays…that left us with September or October, but September has a lot of family birthdays, so October it was. We figured 10/10 would be an easy date for him to remember 😀

Ours will be the anniversary of the very first day we met 🙂
