  • Wedding: April 2017 - Hogarths, Solihull

soontobeericab:  Fiance wanted to get married on our Anniversary.

We needed it to be a weekend so that people could actually come ( We both work for my parents. Basically all employees are family so couldn’t close the business for the day just for a Wedding.)

Our Anniversary fell on a weekend this year and next year, so we went for next year to give us more time to plan ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Wedding: October 2014

We got engeged in February of 2014, and I started asking venues what their availability was for that Fall and then the following Spring (2015). Once we got those dates back, we debated if we we just got it done in the Fall, or if we waited over a year. Winter is awful here, so we basically had Fall/Spring to choose from… and summers are HOT.

I had always wanted a Fall wedding, and 2 of the places we narrowed it down to had openings in late October, so we went with it. There was a perfect weekend in September available, but one of DH’s coworkers was getting married that weekend, so there would have been no way for him to get time off at the same time.

We did ask around to see if certain dates worked over others, especially with family. We also had to work around other stuff that had already been planned. No one had an issue with our proposed date, even though it was on a Friday (cheaper than Saturday). So… that is what we picked and went with it. It actually worked perfect because a lot of school disctricts in the area (and even out of state) had a teachers convention that week, so many people had time off anyway for that with their kids.

  • Wedding: April 2017

We chose April 22 for a few reasons – it was close to both of our grandparents’ wedding anniversaries, it should hopefully still be cool weather (neither of us do well in the heat, we’re like dogs that get overheated easily!), and it’s when the school year is winding down – we both work at a university in Philly and there’s a little less stuff going on at that time of year for my dept.

We chose 10-07-2017.

He’s a Detective Sergeant (27 yrs) and I’m an EMT (16 years). 10/7 is PD/FF/EMS radio code for “Clear” as in the job is over; we are clear.

Originally I wanted to get married in March but the church won’t marry us during Lent. I didn’t want to move it before Lent to January or February due to travel. The first day after Lent that the church had available is 5-6-17! I also had to work around my teaching schedule and finals since I’m working on my doctorate part time. It works though since we started dating on 11/12, he proposed on 1/15/16 and now we get married on 5/6/17. Lots of consecutive numbers ๐Ÿ˜Š

  • Wedding: May 2016

We got married in Glasgow, Scotland, where it rains A LOT.  We got engaged May 2015 and ideally wanted about a year at least to plan as we both are very busy with work and other things.  So we decided we were looking at May-August 2016 as the weather was less likely to be awful then, and it had to be a Saturday as a lot of our friends and family would really struggle to get time off work mid-week.

We spoke to our 2 top-choice venues and our church- the first venue had no Saturdays at all left in 2016!  The second venue had April 30th, May 14th and August 6th, and all of these worked for our church as well.  April felt a little too early both weather-wise and time for planning, and one of my co-workers had booked holiday for her own wedding end of July/start of August and we can’t be off at the same time, we really didn’t want to push it back into 2017 so May 14th it was!

Turned out to be a great choice- most of our invited guests were able to make it, we had glorious sunshine all day (after Glasgow had a couple of weeks of horrid rain and even snow at the end of April!) and as we got engaged May 13th 2015, it was almost a perfect year-long engagement ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Wedding: June 2017

We chose June 24, because it’s our 3 year dating anniversary and just happens to fall on a Saturday in 2017 ๐Ÿ™‚

This works well for us because we are also having an outdoor wedding on Lake Michigan, and I was worried any later would possibly be too hot.

Way back then, Darling Husband owned a lawn service. So we picked March 6, because that was pre-startup for the season.

I picked the time, 2pm, because that was the wedding start time in my favorite movie back then, Steel Magnolias.

  • Wedding: July 2016

We chose ours because our vendor offered a huge discount for July weddings due to the heat. We live in California. We also chose the summer because I’m still finishing college so it just seemed like the best time to get married, and have some us time before school resumes.

  • Wedding: November 2016

soontobeericab:  We knew we wanted a fall wedding.  We have an outdoor vineyard wedding, so we asked when the grapes would be visible, which narrowed us to September through early November.  My parents thought early November could be too cold for our grandparents and I was worried September would be too hot/humid (Virginia – I had originally planned to wear a dress with sleeves as well).  In October we had five Saturdays to choose from.  My parents’ anniversary is the first one, the second one is tragically the anniversary of a family member’s passing, the third was booked, and the fifth was Halloween weekend, so the fourth weekend won!  We knew we wanted a Saturday with many guests travelling from out of town (I’m really anti-non Saturday weddings) so that narrowed down a lot of dates for us.  Had October not been available, we probably would have had a winter wedding downtown in DC where we live.

  • Wedding: May 2017

Originality I was dead set on a fall wedding but I work with a lot of fall anniversaries and getting off for the wedding would’ve been really hard to do since everyone asks for vacation around that time. I didn’t want a winter wedding because I like outdoor pictures and a lot of venues close for those months.

My Fiance decided he wanted May 4th but the next one on a Saturday would be 2019 (I believe)and I wanted to get married sooner rather then later because I would really like my grandfather to attend. We settled on May 6th.

We chose our date because it was the most affordable – it’s a Thursday night.

  • Wedding: September 2015 - Hotel Ballroom

I chose September 26th. Ever since I was a kid I knew I wanted to be a Fall bride. I figured late September or early October would be good. When I settled on my original venue, they offered me a few Saturdays in my ‘window’, and September 26th was the ‘best’ date.

  • Wedding: March 2017

My Fiance and I decided we wanted a year lon Engagement, so we settled on mid April 2017. However, the venues we were looking at told us that if we did it towards the end of March, we could save a few thousand. We were hesitant because Maryland weather is very bipolar in March, but since our dating anniversary is in March, it would hold some significance. So we will be getting married about a week and a half past our 4 year anniversary and I. CANT. WAIT!!
