My fiance has a little vineyard of his own and we are absolutely using his wine for the wedding, first because it’s way cheaper and it’s pretty good, second because we can print and create our own label (choose the color to match our colors and put our names and wedding date on it), and third because I just enjoy spending weekends in the vineyard house bottling the wine from the barrels!

Why not use the wine you want and relabel it to match your theme? The only downside would be (if you’re supplying it yourself) that it would be harder/impossible to return unopened bottles, but if it’s wine you already like that also wouldn’t be the biggest problem?

We picked wines that we liked and didn’t even think about the labels.

we picked our two favorite wines (a white & a red) and also didn’t think about labels.  I figured it would be poured from the bar so it didn’t matter?

I just went to a wedding and they had wine service at dinner. I didn’t notice the labels and couldn’t really tell. If they are serving the wine then their hands cover the lable half of the time anyways. Pick based on what you and your guests would like to drink.

My husband and I aren’t really wine experts, we do love our beer, though!  🙂  We let my parents choose, since we figured they knew much more than we do, and they have memberships to a few different wineries here in Northern California.  They were paying for it, so they chose what they wanted to serve.  If it were up to me, I’d probably chose based on the label, too!! 🙂

All of our wine will be poured, so lables don’t matter. We’re selecting our wines to complement the food, since each course will be paired with a different wine or beer, depending on what the guest pre-selects.

@rosesarered:

Why don’t you make DIY wine bottle ‘coat’ or ‘jacket’ which is quite common now, you don’t have to re-label, just put the coats on the last minute, would it be a problem for your venue? You can also make these wine bottle coat for your wedding favors for guests to bring home (some you display already on the bottles on the spot)
