I had never heard of doing something like that until I started planning my wedding and seeing stuff about it on Weddingbee. I thought about it and decided against it because I felt it was out of the budget of what I wanted to spend…but once I had it in my head, I couldn’t get it out. I couldn’t come up with any other gift ideas for my Fiance that I could get excited about, so I decided to just go for it.

I was nervous too, but it ended up being really fun! You can start by just researching photogs in your area who do boudoir and looking through their portfolios. Once I found one I felt comfortable with, I was a lot less nervous.

I just had my shoot yesterday and it went wonderfully!  Like farmersdaughter, I saw all of the beautiful photos on places like Weddingbee and started to think that it would be an amazing wedding gift.  Fiance and I will have to be long-distance for about 6 months during our first year of marriage because we are both in the process of career transitions and I thought this gift would be that much more special because of the separation.  I also recently lost a lot of weight and really felt good about my body for the first time in 5 or so years so I figured, what better time than now?

Although you didn’t ask, I chose my photog carefully, researching many people in the area and looking over their portfolios online.  The person I chose does only boudoir and has her own studio specifically designed for boudoir shoots that allowed me to have a wide range of pictures (I think there were 6 settings altogether). I also looked at the type of products that they offered.

PM me if you have any questions!  I will tell you that I found it completely not nervewracking.
