I knew I wanted sunflowers for my summer wedding, so I picked colors that worked well with yellow. I went with green, white, and yellow accents.

If you want a theme, think about what’s important to you and/or your Fiance. For colors, either decide flowers you want first, or, if that’s too difficult, once you’ve picked your season and venue, do some searching on pinterest, theknot, etc. to find color schemes that work well for your season/location.

This may seem unorthodox, but I let my Fiance choose. He was saying that he couldn’t choose his suit until the colour scheme was settled and that all his choices would be affected by mine, and that this was leaving him feeling a little cut out of the wedding. It was a gentle reminder to me that sometimes it’s easy to make it all about the bride and the groom can fee sidelined, when in reality it’s our wedding to celebrate our marriage and life together.

So we sat down and talked through everything, about what he wanted to wear, what colours would work with his choices and we picked something together. He got really excited by a summery shade of purple which was really cute and a side of him I hadn’t seen before, and I’m really glad he was so involved with the choice now because it’ll be truly a jointly prepared day now.

I was married in late October ’99 and I chose simple navy dresses for the bridesmaids.  I had a navy evening dress that I loved for other occasions, and I thought the color would be flattering and nice for the bridesmaids, not crazy color, and also, dark but not black.  For the flowers, I wanted multi-color with greenery, so there was red, pink, white, green. My bouquet was multicolor with lighter tones.  I honestly don’t remember the rest, the hotel ballroom was red, white and gold (historic) and that’s about it. I think our cake was 3 or 4 tiers with fresh flowers on top.

Wedding photos now are amazing!  Pick things you love and don’t stress over it too much.

Val13 :  I know what colour I love and I know what colour my Fiance loves. I picked a pretty shade from each colour that looked nice together and said “Do you like this?” and he said yes! It was very easy.

Val13 :  Thank you very much!  I was lucky that the chairs came with the venue, so no extra charge.  I loved them too!

My favorite colors are blue and yellow so I naturally chose those as our colors. My FH likes it as well but he could really careless as long it wasn’t pink.

Val13 :  All lovely ideas! I think you should definitely incorporate coffee still! 🙂
