favflamingo :  we chose our dating anniversary, it’s a special date we always celebrated. Also helps it’s in the summer!

We knew we wanted to get married on a Saturday and that our anniversary was really important to us so we got married on the closest Saturday to our anniversary

We knew we wanted to get married in the fall. Our venue is in the mountains and is known for its beautiful views of fall foliage. We picked our date based on when the foliage would most like be at or close to peak.

We wanted an October 15 wedding but venue only had availability around Christmas, which I didn’t want. January and February tend to be miserable weather-wise so decided to wait till spring. All April dates were available and just liked 16/4/16 for the maths! That said, the weather was beautiful the week prior to our wedding and turned miserable on the day. Was still a great day but shows you can’t count on weather!

I wanted a date either in the spring or autumn so it fitted around our birthdays and other holidays, it also meant it would be cheaper for venues rather than peak summer season. I ultimately pikced spring because of all the pretty blossoms that are out so I knew venues would look good. Then I looked at what the dates that were on Saturdays as I wanted one that looked good and was easy to remember, and we ended up with 16/04/16 (or 04/16/16 if you’re in the US)

We picked a season, then tried to look at venues in our price range in our area. We found some that had Friday specials, and when we narrowed down the ones we liked, we asked what they had available. Most didn’t have on/off season pricing, so we went with September. I have an obligation the second Saturday of every month, so we went with the third Friday and that’s how we arrived at September 21st!

I just knew that I wanted it to be earlier in the year, not boiling hot (meaning no July/August) and with lots of flowers. So from there I just looked at the weekends that didn’t have holidays, not too close to anyone’s birthday, and also was a number that I was happy with for an anniversary, haha. We ended up with May 25th and June 22nd (our reception and wedding will be on different days due to a very tiny wedding ceremony). 25 is my favourite number so that was perfect! And my FH was happy with both of those dates too, he’s a horticulturist and we’re doing the reception at home, so he wanted to be able to plan and arrange the perfect flowers for it.
