I”m doing a gobo for our dance floor and am stuck on what I want it to look like. I just used Word and went through the different fonts to see what would look best but not sure if there’s a better way to do this. Is there someplace where I can get free fonts? Or advice on how to design it?

dafont.com has tons of free fonts

This is silly, but what is a gobo? 🙂
1001freefonts.com and abstractfonts.com are awesome too. I’m a graphic designer and use these all the time.
What’s the theme or feel of your wedding? Vinatge? Girly? Modern? I’d start there. If you want, send me a PM with the details and I’d be happy to design one for you!

@PollyPlanner: A “gobo” is the metal design you put on the lights to create an image from light onto a plain space (such as a dance floor, wall, roof etc).
@AnneL: Not sure on the font factor but if you are including an image make sure to use a vector image (black/white) rather than an actual photo which has shading that doesn’t work with a gobo.
We just designed ours and for an example it has a chandelier with our initials at the bottom.

Generally bolder, thicker letters look better in gobos. Fine script doesn’t look as good. If you google the term “gobo template” you’ll get some good results.
