We kept things classic for my dad – black tux, white shirt, black tie and vest. He was happy with that (and relieved that it was simple and classy). So it may depend on your dad’s preferences, too?

Both of our fathers are wearing their tuxedos. At various friends’ weddings where tuxedos were not worn, they didn’t coordinate their fathers’ attire, simply asked them to took nice for day of. Whatever you choose will be fine. No one will notice/remember the tie and shirt as long as they’re tasteful (and not, say, Mickey Mouse Christmas themed).

FOB and FOG are wearing black tuxes, with black vests and ties, as so are the groomsmen.  It’s very streamlined, no mess or fuss.  Our colors are black and white, so it sorta made our choice easy.  I didn’t want the dads to feel different or left out by putting them in something different from the groomsmen.

General rule is FOB should be dressed to the same formality as the GMs. Since he is wearing a suit instead of a vest and pants, he could wear the same time as the groomsmen maybe with a white shirt. Our plan is to have my dad in a black tuxedo like the groom and GMs but he would be wearing a tie of our family tartan.

My girls are wearing the same dress – except in a royal blue kind of color – any ways.

My Groom, Groomsmen, and fathers are all wearing the same basic tux. The groomsmen are wearing it with no jacket as well as the father of the groom. The groom and my dad are wearing it with the jacket. All the same tie. If you want you could get your dad in the same tux and put him in a different tie to make him different, or put him in the same tie as the groom.
