For those who bought loose stones, did you love the first one you saw or did you have to send it back and buy a new one? Did you buy from multiple sellers and compare the stones? Or for those who bought ring and stone all together on line, how did you know you’d be getting a good center stone? I’m pretty sure I want a 7.5mm forever brilliant, but I hear there can be so much variation from one stone to another. Let me know your experience!

psu624: Mine was handpicked by Beth @ Schubach’s. They took a video of the stone for me before setting it, but I think this is something they only do if you’re having the entire piece created by them. Anyways, Beth is known for having a great eye and picking the best moissy.
Here’s a video of my stone before it was set: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHIcBWCbek4

psu624: I have a 6.5mm and our local jeweler ordered it in from his rep. We compared it to a diamond once it came in, and I thought it was much more beautiful, thats how I knew I was happy with my stone.

Hi, I have purchased two loose moissy’s- a 7.5mm silver cushion and a 8×6 mm light yellow radiant.
Beth from Schubach’s handpicked my silver moissy last June and she did a great job.
My light yellow radiant I purchased and when it came and I saw that sparkle— I loved it so no need to send it back.
Basically if you would feel more comfortable order two if your pocketbook permits and look at them in indoor lighting and then take them outside and see how they dance in the sun. Go with your gut and get the one that sings to you!
Good luck!:)

@psu624: Beth from Schubach’s is hand-picking mine for my custom e-ring we’re making with them. She’s legendary in moissy land for having the best eye and making sure to pick the whitest, best cut stone. I have never read or heard about anyone who wasn’t absolutely thrilled with a stone she selected for them. She’s been amazing throughout this entire process and I’m confident that it will be perfect.

psu624: Everybody says Shubachs. I didn’t do a loose stone, so my whole ring came from MCo, but it sounds like Shubachs is the way to go for loose stones.

Wow thanks! Definitely sounds like Beth is the way to go! There are a few ebay retailers who have great reviews and much cheaper prices, so maybe I’ll try to get a stone from Schubachs and from ebay and see how they compare.
