    She’s my brother-in-law’s wife’s sister.  Lol… I guess sister-in-law by marriage.

I looked through tons of blogs that came up on google. Picked my top 5 and phone interviewed them first. Then we met with our top 2 and picked 1.

Our DJ recommended our photographer. I followed a lot of empty leads that I got on the knot – I like the knot though, not their fault. We went to 6 interviews during the week of Thanksgiving (we drove up to NJ from NC), and I found out that my dream photographer is a nasty diva. After agonizing over whether we could stand having him around on her wedding because he takes the best photos ever (and if I was going to spend 5.5K on a photographer w/ no albums included), I was at my wit’s end.

My cool-as-a-cucumber DJ suggested a photographer that he liked working with and we booked the guy after an hour-long phone interview from NC. I’m not sure that was the right thing to do since photos are extremely important to me, but we’re going to just make the best of it. Beginning with an engagement session that’s included in our package (we were going to skip the e-pics), but I’m actually really excited about it.

Word of mouth is one of the best places to start.  If you have another vendor booked, ask them to suggest someone.  Or, perhaps ask the hive to message you suggestions privately?

I googled wedding photographers in my area and looked through a million blogs. I bookmarked anything I liked and then continued to narrow them down until I had a small list. Then I looked into pricing, packages, etc. Booked appointments with my top 3 and then chose one.

ditto! Then upon searching that photographer’s website after a friend told me who he was I saw another friend’s wedding photos and I remember loving hers when I first saw them but wasn’t thinking wedding at that time…

I used the wedding photojournalist association site following suggestion by my friend.  It’s really a great resource.  Lots of great photographers, and easy to navigate.

Fiance found them!  I was so shocked.  I sent him a link asking what type of style he liked for photography, and he sent back a website of one he had found on his own, and I loved them!!

We met our photographer at our friends’ wedding last summer and we could tell immediately that he was funny, laidback and really nice. He was recommended to them by another mutual friend. So, we’ve seen a bunch of photos from both of their weddings and they’re really nice. 🙂
