We knew we wanted to get married next summer (I am teacher so I wanted summer no matter what), we knew what reception venue we wanted so we narrowed it down to the dates it was open and then picked July 2nd because it is both my sister and his brother’s birthday, and we figured the holiday weekend would make it a nice long vacation for our out of town guests!

Why are you switching?

We had to push ours back too – it was really hard to accept the date that was in my head wasn’t going to be THE date, but that didn’t last too long!

We picked viable months (the ones that weren’t too hot or too cold) – that gave us 6 months.  After we picked our venue, we went with what dates were available.  That really helped us narrow it down – we had wanted June (but it was gone) and they had either a weekend in March or any weekend in October… so we went for the first weekend in October (that fell on our dating month-a-versary).

we actually just picked around my school schedule. He proposed in April, and was not going to graduate until the following May. We didn’t want to wait until the next summer (we didn’t really want a long engagement) so we decided on April 2, as it is the saturday before my spring break at school. I won’t miss anything when we go on our honeymoon!

We knew we wanted summer ’10 so we contacted the church and the reception venue, got their available Saturdays, and picked a date when both were available and booked!

We decided that we wanted to be married in the fall. The actual date will depend on venue availability.

My Fiance was finishing school 1 year from engagement which was September.  The closest I wanted to go to the holidays was the first week in October but that was too close to him starting a job and taking time off would be hard.  So we went with January.  It was the next closest month I liked.  As for the date, there are 5 weekends in January so we picked the middle and then picked Sunday to save money with the venue!

We picked exactly two years after he proposed. It also had to be in the summer because I’m a teacher, so even though our anniversary of our first date would have been more romantic for us, it wouldn’t have worked.

I wanted to get married in the fall b/c my real name is Autumn. We both were born in October so we didn’t want to do in that month. Sept would’ve been ideal, but his father’s bday and 2 of our friend’s wedding anniversaries are in that month so we looked at Aug (which I know isn’t quite Fall). We chose a date in late August, but my cousin who got engaged almost 4 years ago Finally chose her date this year (got married 8/21/10 and we wanted 8/22/11). She chose it after we got engaged in April 2010. It was other things going on in that month so it ended up being 8/13/11.

We decided that we wanted to get married during the warmer months and go on our honeymoon right after, but we ran into some issues.

My brother’s birthday is April 9th.
My parents anniversary is April 14th.
My mom’s birthday is April 28th.
Mother’s day is during May.
Finals week is towards the end of May (I’m still in college).
My birthday is June 8th.
Father’s day is the middle of June.
My sister’s birthday is June 24th.
Then comes 4th of July.
Then my Uncle’s birthday is July 22nd.
FH’s birthday is August 3rd.
FMIL’s birthday is August 19th.
School starts at the end of August.

We want to be in town (not on our honeymoon) for all of the above celebrations, so we had to take a serious look at the calendar and figure out what was feasible. May 22nd is the Sunday after finals week, so we’re good there. And we’re talking our 8 day honeymoon just a couple of days after the wedding, so we’ll be back a couple of days before my birthday. There were just a couple of other dates that would have worked out for us, but we decided to go with May 22nd.

Summers are crazy in my family.
