Guessing this topic may have been done a thousand times already, but I’m curious as to how you knew he had bought the ring.
My partner and I have been speaking about our future for months and months now and coincidently our anniversary is coming up in a couple of weeks!
We’ve also just put a deposit on a block of land and have been discussing building our dream house on it – all this past week!
We haven’t gone ring shopping together or anything like that, and I have told him previously that I’d prefer he choose himself and all the rest.
But I have previously told him what I liked of course 😉 lol
Anyway, he isn’t at work today and I have such a strong feeling that he might have bought a ring today.
I’m so excited to think he could be planning to propose! I can’t explain why I think he has bought a ring but it’s just a gut feeling.
My friends have hilarious stories about how they knew he had the ring, one friend found the receipt on their bedroom floor, another friend opened their computer to find her partner was looking at rings online. It’s funny but cute how many guys just can’t keep secrets as well as some women
So, how did you know that he had bought a ring?

he asked “will you marry me?” And was down on one knee. Seriously, even after dating for 8 years prior to getting engaged, he was able to surprise me. I had no idea he bought a ring until he was presenting me with it.

That’s great that he was able to surprise you! Even after such a long time dating too. Well done to your man!

We went ring shopping together. He made the final choice when he went back alone but he let me know when the ring came in. He still completely surprised me with the proposal. Earlier on the day he proposed I was even joking around that he should carry the ring with him everywhere just in case the perfect moment come up, I had no idea it was in his bag at that moment (we were on a camping trip).

uhhhhhhhh, he proposed? What kind of question is this lol

I had no idea he bought the ring. We had been together for many years and I assumed he would never be able to keep this a secret, but he did. I was completely consumed leading up to the proposal with vacation plans, so I wonder if I might have picked up on him being weird if I wasn’t so very preoccupied myself at the time.
He drove out of town (while I was working one day and wouldn’t notice his trip) to a jeweler that sold the brand of ring (Verragio) the week before we left. Didn’t tell a single person so no one could ruin the secret (and he and his mother are close, so I was surprised he didn’t mention it to her, but everyone in the family knows she can’t keep secrets). He hid the ring the rest of that week. I generally pack for both of us when traveling, but he had it in his carry on backpack and I always went through security at airports before him so he was able to hide it from me.
I was impressed and so pleased. It being a surprise (especially after so many years) was really special for me.

Your story made me smile, I love how he still managed to surprise you. Thanks for sharing

Beautiful story, thanks for sharing. It does sound very special indeed. The lengths he went to to keep it a surprise is amazing. Sounds like you got a good one!

Pay no attention to mandapanda, she’s a well established asshole here lately.
I picked my ring out but Fiance still wanted to surprise me with it and he totally would have if he didn’t use his main account to pay for it. We have both of our primary checking accounts linked to my email and I got a notification that a large purchase was made lol.

I knew when he double checked which one I wanted then heard the ding of the bank notification. 🙂

He got the ring today during lunch break. As we speak he has gone to his parents to put the ring at their house until he is ready to propose next week.

Hahah, love the joint bank notification.
Did you guys tell him you accidentally found out or did you pretend you had no idea? I would try so hard to play dumb but knowing me I’d accidentally let it slip

He was hinting that he had a really special Christmas gift for me. I didn’t know about his trips to the jeweler because he did that in the days that I worked. I was pretty sure that the “really special” Christmas gift was a ring, but I wasn’t sure. I didn’t know for sure until I opened the jewelry box.

I sent him a link and he told me when he finished ordering it.
As some background, I proposed to him without a ring. Then after we went to a store to look at ring styles for him I found two rings online (one for me and one for him) that sort of matched that we both liked. We sat down at our individual computers and he ordered the one for me and I ordered the one for him. His arrived a week before mine, which was completely unfair! Mine actually came the second to last day of an out of town conference that I was at. And he let me know when it arrived, so the last day consisted of me being suuuuper impatient.

He casually mentioned about having a lot less in his bank account that he is comfortable having. I did quick mental math in my head because his finances hadn’t been adding up, so either he was spedning a lot more money than normal all of a sudden or he wasn’t going to work. And I knew he was working, Google maps let me know. Funny side effect of having your Google account accessible on two phones, built in accidental tracker.
Bam. Ring on finger.
We have separate bank accounts but he is nuerotic about his account never getting below $7000 so him going below told me something was up.
