We designed the ring together – he sent our diamond (without me seeing it) to the ring setter, and I took over communication with the setter regarding the individual elements of the setting that we wanted, and the timeline. I paid for the setting, and I know more about jewelry, so that was just the most natural way to go about it.
I did think he had the ring well before he actually had it, though, because the setter actually took WEEKS longer to finish up than our contract outlined. (And we had decided I would be kept in the dark about ring progress once all elements were hashed out.)
So I was a little nervous with anticipation for a few weeks leading up to the trip Fiance had told me he had planned for us – but turns out he only got the ring the DAY BEFORE we flew out!!!

I knew because I picked it out lol. He proposed without a ring (this is what I wanted) and then we went ring shopping together. It’s not that I don’t trust him, but this is something I will be wearing for the rest of my life so I wanted to pick it out – not just the style but the actual ring.

We went ring shopping together and I was obsessed with one antique jeweller and after a week or so I checked her website and the ring we were looking at most was “unavailable”… he also dropped a few lines and slipped up a couple of times during the weeks after.
Now im just going crazy waiting for a proposal!

- Wedding: October 2020 - .
klilly : My fiancé just blurted out one day “I have the money for a ring.” Lol! I always knew I would know when the time was near.. not because I’m a snoop, just because he’s the worst at keeping secrets which I definitely can’t complain about. So after that we planned a day to go to a private jeweler and custom design something together 🙂

I have a question about this, should I think that he has one if he said “I have an anniversary gift for you but it has to do with trust and is special to me so you have to wait until we see each other.” We are long distance, he is visiting in a couple months. I’m wishing it is but in reality I think it’ll be something he wanted to give me a year ago but his family advised against it because we hadn’t been dating long enough. What would you guys assume? Whatever it is I know I’ll love it, just him visiting is great but after a few years together hoping for marriage.

My sister just told me that he showed it to her 😩 I was really hoping for it to be more of a surprise. Probably for the best though….I was literally going batshit waiting and wondering.

Oh my gosh, I was mortified at how I found out that my husband had bought my ring lol. We had been discussing off and on, and I knew he had bumped our timeline because he was having a hard time picking a ring after I had insisted that I wanted him to pick it himself, after I had showed him some styles I liked. I was starting to get super impatient and did a lot of research online and found a ring I liked. So I went to him and showed him, and he said honey please dont worry about it, and I was like no, I know youre having a hard time so please look, this is the ring I want. And finally he was like HONEY I CANT LOOK AT THAT RING. And I got kind of upset and said Why?? Are you putting this off because youre having second thoughts! And he just stood there and stared at me very pointedly. It took me about two full minutes to realize that he had already bought the ring, and I felt TERRIBLE lol!! And then he sat on it for a month before he finally proposed! And the ring he had chosen was absolutely perfect, and it was nothing like the ring I had thought I wanted lol but it all worked out beautifully 🙂

There were only about two weeks between starting to casually look and actually ordering my ring. We were in the US for a short period of time and wouldn’t be back for a year so it was a mutual decision to get the ring while we were there.

Well I knew he had the ring because he gave it to me as soon as he bought it – and that was immediately after I indicated what sort I wanted .We decided we wanted to get engaged and married, chose a ring type type, he bought it and thus we were engaged .
I will never understand all this hiding away of rings ……

I had no idea until he proposed, and I honestly wouldn’t have had it any other way!
