Well… when we got married we agreed to start our family by two years after the wedding. The reasoning was that we had been very busy since we started dating and wanted to enjoy quality time as a couple before having babies, while not waiting too long as we’re not getting younger. We both want children, but we are also very happy without them, so the decision was more about how much time we wanted to have together before making this big change in our lives.

As for being ready, the timeline had us wrap our heads around the idea; and when it was time, it was time.

We did not think we were ready.  Lots of fears, doubts etc. Then I got pregnant! When I saw the pregnancy results, I teared up and just knew that I knew, this was a gift to us. We could handle it and it would be worth it. I was flooded with joy, peace and excitement. Then we miscarried  a few days later and grieved a bit.  And we knew we were willing to sacrifice and love another so deeply. So we planned a date to conceive, a few months later, that would jive with our life schedule (vacation, maternity, etc.) and voila! Blessed! 🙂 Other than that…not prepared until baby was on the way. Maybe we did a budget before we conceived but maybe not. Definitely when I was pregnant, I got on the ball, reading books, getting apps, budgeting etc.

We both feel like there’s something missing in our lives, like a big hole that needs to be filled. We find ourselves saying with everything we do “Wouldn’t it be great to have a baby with us doing this, or doing that, etc”. All this summer at the beach we were saying how amazing it would be to have a baby playing in the sand with us, etc. We kinda think about it constantly!
