Kind of a spin off on a post from yesterday about how would you go about meeting people if you were single…I want to know how you ended up meeting your FI?
Here is my story. My sister (my best friend) had lost her job and began the long search for another. She went on an interview for a company and they were kind of slow on getting back to her so i told her she should just look for something else…if they are already being so indecisive about things, why would you want to work for a company like that? well with times being tough she ended up taking the job when they finally offered it. Yay for me because she met my Fiance there! They were in the same department and she sat in the cube next to him… she said “you have to meet this guy” and creepily was taking pictures on her phone and sending them to my work email. At the time i was dating someone else (a pretty serious relationship, 2 years) …but we were having problems to say the least. i was very devoted to the bf so there was no way i was going to even try and persue my sister’s new work buddy. Lucky for me, about two months later my boyfriend at the time broke up with me, i was devestated and wasnt expecting it. So to get my mind off things i started trying to get out more. I would meet them for lunch, she invited me to their mixers after work and finally he and I started hanging out alone after work. A little less than 2 years later he proposed and made me the happiest woman in the world….All thanks to my big sis and her scheming self…i cant wait to hear her Maid/Matron of Honor speech at the wedding, im sure she has alot to say about both of us.
Now…tell me your story 🙂

Our best friends growing up were dating and knew we were both pathetic and single so they invited him to a party at my house. I know it’s cheesy, but it was kind of love at first sight. We both just felt a connection knew that we belonged together. It took him forever to work up the courage to ask me on a date!

aww that story is much cuter than mine.
I hit on my fiance drunk at a bar — it was st. patricks day. I dont remember talking to him. I left the bar with my roommate– woke up the next day with the lights still on, pieces of taco’s in my hair, and of course the green mouth from green beer. Asked my roomie what happened – she didnt know – ended up finding my phone and had missed calls and texts from a person named “Strod”. deleted the number and text assuming my drunk goggles had led me astray once again…. he called later and i answered… he asked me out … I refused — eventually i gave in and met him at a different bar for a drink and he ended up being amazingly cute… great personality… and told me about the night I hit on him…. lol… I think I will tell my grandchildren that I met him at a restaurant when out with a girlfriend.
What’s weird is I am pretty soft spoken, not out going at all, normally guys would hit on me and i would give them fake numbers even if I thought they were cute because i was so nervous…. so he must have really caught my drunk eye bc that would normally never happen!

Aww its so awesome that your sister took the job!!!
My husband and I met in college through my roommate and his best friend. It was the Saturday before spring semester courses started and we came back to campus early. We were underage so my roommate’s boyfriend had bought us some wine. It was really cold and dark so my roommate asked if i would come with her to his place to pick it up. When we got there there was a guy sitting on the couch watching C-SPAN. I immediately thought he was really cute and thought it was funny he was watching CSPAN because my dad works there AND I just happened to be wearing a CSPAN jacket that night. We talked for a bit and then left but I still felt connected to him. A few nights later we were at a party and we ended up talking to each other for 3-4 hours. Then a few nights after that I just showed up at his place and we hung out all night. Ever since then we just started hanging out every day and it progressed into a serious relationship! Exactly 4 years and 7 months from the night we met we got married!!

we used to work together. we hung out at work a lot, flirted a bit over email, and then hung out one day on a day off. it started out as seeing a movie with a coworker….ended up as a definite date. we kept it quiet at first at work but everyone knew within a month or two. we’re actually the fourth couple to meet at that company and then get married…if things don’t work out with her company, my boss could probably start a matchmaking business 🙂

We were in a wedding party together. He was the best man (best friend of the groom who had moved out of town) and I was a bridesmaid (childhood friend of the bride and I had jsut recently moved back in town). He ended up moving back to the city we live in now and two years later he proposed!

We went to high school and I had a BIG crush on him (stalker style), but never the nerve to talk to him. My best friend had a class with him our Senior year (his Junior) and I got her to get his email address. We talked maybe 1 or 2 times, I ended up leaving for the military to Texas in 2001 after graduating in 2000 & he was with a girl (whose locker was next to mine ahhh) from my grade in HS for 6 years. We were friends, chatting online here & there. In the end of 07, they broke up. I went to visit him in February of 08, he came to Texas in March, I went to Michigan in April, he came in July, I went back in September, he came back in October…lol, you get the point. He moved to Texas from Michigan in December of 08, a week before Christmas (drove straight through, too!). He proposed in April of 09, and we’re getting married December 3.

We met at a party in college.
I was a sophomore, he was a junior.
I was helping my ex-bf rush current FI’s fraternity (ex-bf and I had broken up a few months prior).
I had an empty bottle of champagne I was carrying around (very drunkenly proud of my achievement of having finished the whole thing by myself) and was looking for someone to hold it for me… since *obviously* I needed to keep it!
Fiance was standing by the door the the common room alone so I figured he was a good candidate to hold the bottle.
He says he tried to make me say something stupid for 30 min and when he couldn’t trick me into sounding like an idiot, he figured I was actually a smart girl. (I”m proud of my champagne addled brain for holding my own).
Anyway, he didn’t get my number, or IM, or ANYTHING so I figured he wasn’t that interested.
My roommate at the time met a guy at the party too (and they started dating that night). So later that week she had her bf make my future Fiance invite me to a party. He picked me up on campus and finally got my contact info that night.
Maybe I’ll have to tell the kids that “friends introduced us” rather than the champagne story.

At my work, I was the bartender, he was a customer. He came in once, when I was off shift, and he bought me a shooter, well his friend did actually, then he came in again the next night to ask me out! I declined, took his number, and called hi. Long story short, but you get it.
