ladyamalthea:  My Fiance and I also met through OKC 🙂

As I tell people, he “creeped” my profile and the rest is history 🙂

We met with working together years ago. We were just friends. Then came a point when we were both single, and it just clicked. It was as if you could feel fate working it’s magic.

sarabee:  I met my husband while we were undergrads at the University. We were in the same math class and also assigned in the same small math group. I was 27 and he was 26. We were both going to school for our second careers. He was previously in the Air Force and I was a pharmacy tech. Fast forward, we both graduated. He is now a teacher and I am in grad school. Good luck! It takes time to find your best friend/husband.

OkCupid, like the brides and grooms of the last three weddings I’ve been to! What helped me the most was dating “up” – looking at guys 3+ years older than me. I’m late 20s and I found the guys in their early 30s were more mature, looking for a more serious relationship, and appreciated that I was on a less urgent get married/have kids timeline than many of the women their own age. I ended up with someone 5 years older and it’s just perfect. We’ve both dated a LOT of people and don’t feel like we’re missing out by being “done” at this point. Plus his friends and colleagues are more in the stage of settling down, so he felt more ready for something serious than someone whose buddies were hitting the bars every single night.

I met my husband during our senior year of high school. He sat behind me in AP Statistics 🙂 This October will be 10 years since we started dating

I met my SO on tinder… but it turned out we had met years before and neither of us remember. Thankfully I knew a lot of his friends from going out to bars etc.. so I wasn’t worried about him trying to murder me lol. But I second that if you go the online route you will have to go through a lot of frogs and also definitely meet in a public place if you are planning to meet and go on a date.

One of my best friends in middle school moved from where we grew up in RI to a small town in MA. She invited some of her old friends to come to her new house for her 15th birthday party, and of course she had lots of people from her new school there as well.

I saw my fiance sitting in a chair with his best friend away from the rest of the party and I went over and just sat on his lap… No introduction, no asking, just plopped down. We spent 10 hours on the phone when I got home the next day and have been in love ever since.

While we haven’t been together the entire time since meeting, for 11 years we have always played major parts in each others lives. Two years ago he finally admitted he was still in love with me and we’ve been inseparable since.
Can’t wait to marry to the love of my life.

Myspace. Yes, Myspace. In 2005, when I was 18.

I met my Fiance through an online social group, meetup.com (it’s in a lot of cities throughout the US). I moved to my city for college and around 22 I found myself friendless (college friends moved away, I stayed). So my mom told me about this online site, meetup.com, where different groups based on interest/age/occupation/etc are created, and then the groups have events where they meet up and do something together. For example, there’s an outdoor meetup group where they do outdoorsy stuff, there’s a wine meetup group, there’s a boardgame meetup group, a real estate meetup group, etc.

The group we met through was for 20-somethings, and we just did stuff 20-somethings like to do (happy hours, hiking, eating out, and so on). I had already been a part of the group for a year or so, and I met him at a happy hour. We were friends for almost a year before I finally told him I liked him, and we started dating after that.

So for me, it was a social group that was just for doing fun stuff and making friends. Several other people in my meetup group have met their SO’s through the meet up, and some are either engaged or married now (three couples besides me are engaged or married!).

The purpose of the meet up groups are to make friends, NOT to find a boyfriend or girlfriend, however that is sometimes that happy consequence of making friends and hanging out with a bunch of other like-minded people.

I met my SO back in middle school when him & I both were 13 yrs old. One of our friends set us up and then we ended up breaking up that year and he then dated someone else. Then after i left that school we lost touch. Then 15-16 yrs later thanks to facebook & one of my friends we reconnected & we have been inseperable ever since! 🙂

We were introduced through a mutual co-worker. We have quite different jobs, though. I work in the office part of the company, and he works as a delivery driver.

I had just turned 20 and my now fiancé had just turned 19 when we met. We met because we had mutual friends, and as time went on him and I got closer. It wasn’t until about a year and a half later though that we started dating (I had friendzoned him, lol). We were in Greek life together and saw each other a lot at parties and when he was with my sorority sisters and we got close really quickly.

We were coworkers at Walmart. He just moved into the area with his girlfriend at the time, and I had just been promoted. At first, I tried to ignore him. I was in our breakroom, and he sat down while I was listening to music and writing. He just didn’t care. Eventually I warmed up and we became good friends. He broke up with the girlfriend(amicably, he even still lived with her parents for a while) and after a few months of flirting, we started dating. Tried to keep it a secret at work, but some people had already assumed we would date. Now that we’re gone from the store, we visit some of our coworkers and they’re so excited that we’re (finally, according to them) getting married.
