We wanted to get married on June 25, 2011, but, our pastor is out of town from 6.11.11 to 7.25.11. The closest to our original date was May 28,2011. It is very good though, it’s Memorial Day Weekend. More time for recovery!!!

my Fiance is a police officer in a department that is very busy in the summer – so, we knew that it had to be either before may or after september – i wanted a spring wedding, so april seemed perfect!  and as for the exact date, it was either going to be the first or second weekend in april, but my little sister turns 21 in late march, so we made it april 9 to give enough time for bachelorette party festivities (shes my Maid/Matron of Honor ha)

a very convoluted way of saying everyones schedule pointed to April 9 haha

We got engaged July 31.  We set a date for January 15, 2011.  Also the place where we want to get married is closed for a two-week maintenence and cleaning after MLK day.  We’re accountants so we thought it would be better to get married before tax season hits again…the wedding had to take place before Febuary and after April 15 but neither of us wanted to wait all the way until after April 🙂

I wanted a fall/end of summer wedding and was engaged in August, so I thought a year of planning should be good. We originally thought a year and a half engagement but I really can’t wait that long :), plus that would land me into Spring. The weather is also nice in September so that was another reason.

I had no real ideals for the date- season or month with any meaning. So we let the venue decide.

We wanted an outdoor wedding in Maine. We got engaged over labor day, so we immediately started looking at venues for late August/early Sept.

The venue we liked the best only had 9/24/2011 available and nothing else until 9/2012. It was later in Sept than we wanted, but hopefully the weather will still be nice enough for an outdoor ceremony & outdoor/tented reception with heaters.

We knew what months were options for us, personally.  Then we went with dates our venue had available.

Originally, we made the mistake of picking a date first, then the venue… and then the venue didn’t have that date available (enter lots of disappointment for us!).

We picked a range of weekends during the season we wanted (July – mid-August 2010) and our venue had every Saturday available during that range at the time when we booked (over a year in advance). So, we picked a date late in July since it’s a better bet in Seattle that the weather will be dry once you get closer to August, and settled on July 24 because I like even numbers.

If I hadn’t liked even numbers, we would have probably gone with July 31st.

My mom is a school teacher and so she’s getting ready for the school year at the end of August and can’t really travel. If that hadn’t been a restriction, we might have picked August 28 because that’d be two days before our four-year dating anniversary. (And we were set on doing a Saturday).

We knew we wanted to get married in the fall. Our dating anniversary is Sept 18, but DH’s birthday is in Sept and mine is Nov so those months were out. We thought Oct 18 (so a month after out dating ann.), but my brother got married last year on Oct 16 and we didn’t want it that close to theirs. We ended up deciding on Oct 8th (We got engaged the 8th day of June so it still fit).

@IvyClimb: haha I’m the same way with even numbers! I love ours is 10/8/10 which is all even, repeats and can be divided by two (well I guess all even numbers can lol). I even make Darling Husband stop the radio/tv volume on an even number!

Our date has special significance…sort of!  Our dating anniversary is 9/7, so we opened the calendar to see what day of the week that was…

    Me: Yeah…that’s a Wednesday.

Him: Hmm…what about the following Saturday?

Me: That’s 9/10/11!  How cool is that?!

Him: Awesome!  That’ll make it really easy for me to remember!

LOL!  We love our date, because its close to our dating anniversary, its a cool date, AND its near a long weekend when we like to travel.  🙂

I am a teacher so picking the summer was most important and I picked it DEAD center in the summer to have time to prep before and time to relax after.

good luck! It has a lot to do with venue’s availability of course!

We were venue searching on May 1st of this year and found our venue, then said “hey, why not have it a year from today?” done
