We really wanted to get married over a holiday weekend because we knew most people would have to travel.  I really wanted May, but Memorial Day can be iffy and very foggy where I am from.  4th of July was out because I feel like that is more of an actual holiday – where people have specific plans – and thus off limits.  Labor Day is always gorgeous (and it was!), so that was it.

We picked a month and just took whatever date the venue had available.

  • Wedding: April 2011

We originally decided we wanted to be married in the winter of 2011/2012 because we wanted a New Year’s Eve wedding. We loved the thought of having a party atmosphere for such a great celebration and thought it would be perfect for our out-going fun-loving selves. We had to swtich however due to costs.

We are now being married April 12, 2011. This date is also a little bit significant to us: it’s my grandmother’s birthday and April 10th is currently our anniversary.

We’re having a destination wedding to Mexico, so all in all the switch saved us about $1000/per person so loosing our original date was worth it.
