I picked mine because she is a very close and (more importantly) reliable friend. I chose my other Bridesmaid or Best Man for similar reasons. You want people who will fulfil the responsibilities of the role as well as being a good laugh!

I picked my sister because friends come and go but she’s been in my life since she was born 17 years ago and she’ll be in my life until the end so I’ll never regret my choice. She is also an amazing person!

I have two best girlfriends and a sister that all would have been spectacular MOH’s, but I chose my only sister because blood’s an easy tie breaker.

She is my only sister, so it was a ‘duh’ type of choice.

My Maid/Matron of Honor is my mom because I know she’ll be extremely helpful, loving, and supportive and she’s my best friend (: one of my good friends (the one I would have asked if my mom said no for some reason) is a bit younger than me and can have some selfish streaks so I figured my mom would be a better (and less dramatic) choice!

@HisNightOwl2014:  it’s ok to base your decision on your reasonings.  It honors your new family and gives the responsibility to someone who will enjoy it and be more helpful (very very important).  Besides, your bf is a Bridesmaid or Best Man, that is still a huge honor. =)

These choices do not reflect how I chose my Maid/Matron of Honor. My sister and I are sisters. That’s something totally different and stronger than BFF. I have never considered my sister to be my friend. She’s my sister. That’s a whole nother level.

Anyways, no matter what BFF I would have, my sister would be the best Maid/Matron of Honor there is, and no one cares for me like my sister does. She was there when I was born. I have never known life without her and the only important thing in my life I did without her was lose my viginity! LOL So yeah. I’d need a choice three that includes sisters.

@honeybee1999:  =)  my sister and I have done all the important things together too! She was my Maid/Matron of Honor and then 2 months later I was in the labor and delivery room holding her hand while she had her daughter. Sisters have super special forever life bonds like that.

I chose my best friend. She had been like my sister for over half of my life and we shared a bond that I could never share with my sisters. She was the obvious choice I would have never considered anyone else.
