Our venue includes the cake from a popular bakery. My Fiance already like the same types of cake (our fave is usually chocolate or strawberry shortcake). The bakery does tastings so we went and tasted about 20 different combos.

we picked 2 tiers to be chocolate with Baci/Nutella filling and the other 2 will be strawberry shortcake.

My husband and I went to the tasting by ourselves. I invited my mom and brother, sweets fanatics, but they didn’t want to go. I was so sick though so I felt I wasn’t able to enjoy it as much, but after trying about 25 cakes, we both had the same favorite… Oreo!

My Fiance really doesn’t care for cake because he doesn’t like icing. And I am so not thrilled with the idea of spending hundreds of dollars on cake either. So I decided to go with a smaller, simple cake (that hopefully still makes a little bit of an impact) and we’re having other desserts, like mini pecan pies and his mom’s blueberry dessert (which he looooves) and a sweet and sour candy bar. (He adores sour candy.) I brought this idea up to Fiance and he’s like “Ok!”. Here are my inspiration pics:

But imagine only the top two tiers, and instead of the coral flower, a gold glitter star or something.

    Or this:

But with blue crystal sugar, and probably not the fondant swag.

Fiance and I discussed our top three flavors and had two different bakeries make each one. We tried the samples with both our families and got their input (mainly because the samples were so generous!) but we were ultimately in charge of the decision. We both picked a design that would go well with our theme for the decor aspect.
