- Wedding: June 2012 - Chapel of Flowers
I was wondering how you gals chose your wedding colors? My fiance & I are eloping (well a semi-planned elopement) to Las Vegas in the next few months, and we still have no clue what colors we want! I would like to start looking for my shoes and getting my bouquet ready (I do not want flowers so I need an alternative!) among other things. Let me know any suggestions! 🙂

I picked Caribbean Sea blue, because I absolutely love the color and wanted to surround myself with a color that I personally look good in and that really makes me happy!
I also love deep sapphire blue, but my wedding was outside in May, and I thought that the Caribbean Sea blue color would be much better to coordinate with the time of year and venue. Also, I thought that sapphire blue gowns would not provide enough contrast with the ultra formal black tuxes/tails that the groomsmen were wearing. (My mom found the PERFECT sapphire blue gown, however, so I did have that color represented as well!)
My second color was platinum, because I chose platinum rings, and my wedding invitations and matching programs had silver-colored ribbons. I also chose champagne pin-tuck linens for my reception, because I know that platinum and champagne look great together and both look beautiful with the stunning shade of blue I selected. Our flowers were pale pinks, whites, and pale greens.
ETA: I just saw the part of your post noting that you do not want flowers. You could carry a beautiful brooch bouquet that reflects your favorite colors!

we were going to have red because that’s my fi’s favourite colour and i like it too but i found a beautiful pair of fuschia shoes that i would love to wear for the wedding. my fi told me to buy the shoes…our colour is fuschia.

I got banned from navy and yellow by my Fiance and then my friend had grey and yellow. So I just picked a color that made me happy and then let Fiance pick the other color and we got purple and charcoal!

Our venue (bottom of picture) has a lot of red and its our favorite color. I think teal complements it well. There may be a tiny bit of pink in the flowers. I think you should choose the first color based on it being a color you love, going really well with the venue, or just being a color that happens to look good on your bridesmaids (if you’re having them). Then choose other colors that complement it as necessary. Here is my wedding board so far:

I started with purple and then ended up going with peacock colours…purple, indigo, lime with some gold/brassy accents. I may not have any flowers either since I’ve got some unique ideas. The brooch bouquet seems to be a good option plus I’ve seen fans (paper, feather, etc), lanterns, etc. Is there something unique to you that could be made into something to carry?

We are doing blue and gold. Blue is his favorite color, gold is mine.

Purple and Orange because I am an LSU fan and my Fiance is a Tennessee fan.
Yup, we are THAT lame!

I don’t really know, lol.
I just looked at tons of blogs, pictures, searches, images, posts, everywhere and started saving things that I liked. After a while I realized that a lot of the things I was saving were similiar–bright shades with red and soft tiffany blues. And the more I looked at options with those colors the more I liked them.
I ended up hating the blue color by the end of the process since it’s such a freakin hard color to pin down, but nonetheless.
It’s not like either have always been my favorite color or a certain flower was my favorite or anything like that….

After wearing an array of hideous colors for all of the family weddings as a bridesmaid, we decided a classic black will look good on everyone, and I can pick out whatever flowers I want.

I am really not sure lol… I just kind of… picked them o_O I wanted bright colors that would stand out in the dark coloured cabin and against the white of the snow. I was originally going to do just red and tiffany blue, but I thought that was a bit overdone… I wanted more unique colors! 🙂
Our colors were red, light yellow, turquoise and brown!

For as long as I can remember, I always wanted lavendar to be my wedding color (and I wanted a spring wedding).
But my fiance REALLY wanted a fall wedding, so as the first of many, many, MANY compromises, we chose to get married in September. I didn’t think lavendar would be a good “fall”color for that time of year, and then I started thinking that lavendar actually wouldn’t really flatter any of the bridesmaids. They’re all pretty pale and one is a redhead and my sister has, like, white blonde hair and eyebrows and ice blue eyes.
Plus one of my fiance’s groomsmen is in the navy, and when I realized he’d probably be wearing his “dress blues” for the wedding, I decided to go with blue instead.
As the planning continued, I came to the conclusion that blue is actually a perfect color because we’re having a little bit of a penguin theme — both the animal and the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey team. The Pens “classic” jerseys from the 60’s are blue, so the decision became final upon this realization!
It’ll also make my “something blue” much easier to coordinate with everything else.

We chose purple and blue because purple is my favorite color and blue is FI’s favorite color. My bridesmaids will be in purple and his groomsmen will be in blue. And my bouquet will be purple and blue and FI’s boutonniere will be purple and blue.

We are also that lame! Yay!
Our colors are purple, gold, and ivory. Fiance graduated from LSU. As luck would have it, I love these colors.

Our colours are grey, yellow, white and teal. Fiance did not want “girly” colours and wanted the wedding to reflect his tastes as well. I don’t blame him. We recently bought and reno’d a condo and used these colours while decorating/painting. It suits us well and we both love the colour scheme.
