I decided on september 8th because I knew I wanted an outdoor wedding and in Texas you obviously never can predict the weather. I knew July would be too hot and October might be a little to cold so went with September and I was going to pick the 1st but that is labor day weekend and I knew people would probably go Out of Town. So I ended up with Sept 8th! So what made you or how did you pick your wedding date any specific reason?

We both love the fall in MI… Sept is the perfect mix of end of summer/early fall weather 🙂 We lucked out weatherwise… a morning shower, then sun for the rest of the day!

- Wedding: August 2013 - Brookfield Zoo
I picked August 17 because it is the anniversary of our first date (and we use it as our yearly anniversary just because), and 2013 because 8/17 will be a Saturday 🙂 I had this planned way too far ahead, don’t even ask when LoL.

We wanted to get married as soon as I got my degree this spring and I was going to do it the very last saturday weekend in May after graduation, but then I realized that was memorial day weekend. So I pushed it a week and now I’m a June Bride!

My mother and her mother (my grandmother) were both married on Labor Day weekend. I will be the 3rd generation to do so. =)

I had a whole process, if anyone’s having trouble deciding…
I made a list of every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of a long weekend during the year that we wanted to be married.
I narrowed it down pretty quickly because we want an outdoor ceremony, so that left about five potential months based on the weather.
I then went through those dates and marked whether or not they were a holiday — like the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
I also looked up the major sporting events like the Opening Games of the Olympics or the NCAA Final Four. I really don’t want people at my wedding wishing that they were somewhere else or feeling like they were missing out on something.
Then I considered local events — St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah is huge and there wouldn’t be any hotels available for my guests.
Then it was really a case of when the venue was available and when they were offering discounted rates and how that lined up with the days that I had left on my list.

August 16 is our anniversary, and 2012 happens to be our 5th anniversary together.

My Fiance proposed to me on our 13month anniversary, which fell on a Friday the 13th. So I wanted to be married on the 13th. October of 2012 was Saturday the 13th, but because I want an outdoor ceremony in Washington State, it is too cold by then. So July 13th is a Friday (like our engagment), but my dream venue books in weekend blocks, so it was not available. We settled it by getting the weekend after (wedding date on July 21st), at the location I really wanted. Plus, summer is just gorgeous there.

Anniversary of our first date 🙂

I picked July 20. I first started with the month of July because I knew the weather would be nice (*fingers crossed*). Then, I called the venue I wanted to ask what days they had available. July 6 I will be on my period (I know, Too Much Information, sorry), July 13 was taken, so July 20 was the next date so I took it. 🙂

Our anniversary date just happened to be on a Saturday the following year. July 8th was our original date (our anniversary) but the venue we fell in love with wasn’t available until July 28th so that became our new wedding day.

We first met on March 4, so I thought it would be nice to have our wedding anniversary be the same date that we already celebrate our anniversary on now. However it was a Sunday and the location we chose for our reception was booked that weekend. So, we chose the next weekend which was close enough.
