I always wanted a june wedding. After attending a june wedding we changed the date. It was just too hot, fi hates the heat. So he wanted october, to cold for me so we compromised on september.

For me, I knew I wanted an outdoor mountain wedding ceremony which limits it to late April-early October in Colorado. I also knew I wanted to get married on the 23rd (my lucky number and he proposed on the 23rd on September).  So, I looked at the calender to see which months had the 23rd fall on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday in the next year or two.  Wound up deciding on May 23rd because it is the Friday of a holiday weekend for out of town guests 🙂

Lol, it was the one that had Christmas in it (we always planned to marry over the Christmas Holidays)

  • Wedding: March 2015

I originally wanted an evening January wedding, but due to daylight savings time we wouldn’t be able to take any outdoor photos in the daylight.  We decided on March since we would still get the winter discount at our venue.  The Saturday dates for after daylight savings time were the 14th, 21st, & 28th.  We couldn’t do the 21st since that is the anniversary of FI’s grandmother’s passing & the 28th is the day after FI’s birthday.  That left us with March 14th…I soon realized after we booked that it was also Pi day (3.1415) which is awesome!  🙂

I wanted to do a June or July wedding, but my fiance works 6 days a week starting in April until August.  I did not want to wait until August to get married and I figured it’s a little slower at his work for April even though it’s busy, so that was how we decided April.

I want June because its classic, and we have very little in our lives in the way of “traditional” or “classic”.

We chose July as our wedding month.

When my Fiance and I first began talking about getting married 2 years ago I wanted a fall wedding on his Native American reservation on the beach. Then after thinking about it and realizing it rains a lot here during the fall, and winter months the reality of us having a non-rainy day in the fall would be pretty unlikely.

Then when he proposed back in 2012 I wanted to get married in August for varying reasons, but the funds couldn’t come through in time, so we pushed it back a year for July 15th, 2013.

July is when my FI’s family take the entire month off from work/school and go on the annual camping trip the whole family goes on, so we decided that a Monday wedding would not only be cheaper, but more realistic for his family to be able to come before heading down to the camp site for the rest of the summer. Also the 15th of July will be the half mark of our six years together, so I thought that with the convienance of the month along with the 15th having meaning to us that is how we came up with our wedding month. =D

March 15 is already our anniversary so I decided I wanted to wed on our actual anniversary which is 03/15/2014 which will be 9 years together. However, lately I’ve been thinking should we wait until 2015 and wed on our 10 year anniversary 03/15/2015 which is a Sunday which will help with costs? I don’t know!

I wanted to get married in August, because we will (hopefully) be moving for grad school in September, 2014. I thought I could quit whatever temporary job I’ll have at that point, take off a week before the wedding, go on our honeymoon and then start packing for our move.

Then one of my best friends got engaged, about 3 weeks before we did. She wants to get married in September. We have a mutual very close friend who lives in England, we live in Canada. I knew that if the weddings were that close together he wouldn’t be able to come to mine, as they’re closer. I also have a few other friends who are intending to get married August/September 2014, but aren’t engaged yet. I was starting to feel like our wedding would just get lost in the mix and thought that maybe we should separate ours from everyone else’s.

We’re now planning on Easter weekend, 2014. As most of our guests, probably 70-80% of them, are across country or in other countries, we thought the extra day or two of travel would be nice for them.

I picked April, because there aren’t too many tourists and venues won’t be nearly as expensive.  It’s at the Outer Banks so there’s zero risk of hurricanes.

The majority of my family is in education, which meant summer worked the best for the majority of my guests. July was open at our venues. Done.

My SO and I picked 7-17 because that’s the day he asked me to be his gf. So to us it makes sense to get married on our anniversary.

We picked August because I work in a school and only have school holidays off. My fiancé works in a supermarket and can’t have Christmas off or Easter off for holidays, so that left the summer holidays. The date we got was the only one left at our reception venue!

@wouldyoukindlyy:  We chose 11-17 because that’s the first day we initially started dating. 🙂 It’ll be 7 years this fall when we tie the knot.
