Shock. I swore (Holy !#$&). I rarely, rarely swear, especially not in front of other people… but that slipped out in front of my entire immediate family. Lucky for me, they were too busy crying and cheering to notice 🙂

I was SO surprised. I had no idea it was coming. I was crying and shaking and I must have had the ugliest cry face ever! long story short, we we’re at the grand canyon he said he wanted to play me a “song” on his iPod. What he played was a recording of him asking both my parents, they’re divorced, for their permission/blessing. I was in such shock, I count stop crying and shaking. I did manage to say, “oh my god, yes, oh my god…” it was perfect

I had NO idea it was coming…I was so surprised!
I think part of the shock was because it was about a week before Christmas. Everyone at work was asking me if I thought he’d propose over Christmas holidays. My respone – “No way. Dave’s not the kinda guy to propose at any major holiday or event”

That’s part of why he did it…he knew I’d be surprised!

My reaction when he propsed – “Are you serious???? Uh huh! Uh huh!”
    It’s such a crazy feeling. I loved it <3

Laughed a lot, and cried a little (and shivered a ton, it was snowing!!!).

When he got down on one knee, my jaw dropped. When he said “Will you marry me?”, I said “ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?”, then he said yes, and then I said yes, and then I started crying.

I froze at first, then smiled and called him a dork (term of endearment, I promise) and my body quivered. I didn’t cry until I called my best friend to tell her about it.

I always thought I would be crying because I am a big cryer but I was in shock when he proposed so I was just shaking and I took foreverrr to say yes because I was like frozen.

We didn’t have a surprise proposal–we just agreed to get married. He tried to do a serious proposal once the ring arrived, but we both kept cracking up.

I had all 3! At first I was shocked (asked are you serious.. or are you kidding, can’t remember) and then we cried, and then I laughed because I was still so shocked and couldn’t believe he surprised me.

I had NO idea that it was coming and when I figured out what he was doing I said “shut the F*** up!” then covered my mouth and starting laughing hysterically.  He was too, as was the waiter he brought outside the restaurant to take pictures of the proposal.  It was my gut reaction and I still cannot believe I responded that way.  lol.  After that I thought I was going to throw up (we just had dinner at the Capital Grille) and then when I got in the car and called my sister I started crying my eyes out.  lol.  I didn’t sleep for a week!

Confused. He put the ring in a kinder surprise egg and resealed it. It looked too real to be a toy lol. After I said yes I asked what he did with the real toy lol

A little back story first. Mike and I are both in our 40’s and have both been married before, and coincidently for 18 years each. Mike is my best friend of 16 years bil, so we have seen each other on and off over the years.

I was divorced in 2005, and in 2008 bf mentioned that he was available as well, we started talking at a party a week later, and have been together since. He moved in a few months later as he was working in the town I was living in with my daughters, and he actually lived 1 1/2 hours away.

Mid-2009 I moved in to live with him, the kids were gone to college and I did not need to pay rent somewhere when there was a perfectly good place with no mortgage or rent to pay, and he was working up there now. We had talked and decided we had both been married before, and really didn’t want do do that again, his ex wife was a *&^%$ and really turned his stomach on marriage.

Fast forward to April 29, 2011. We were at the hotel for my family reunion and 2 of my daughters were on their way up. The 3rd was not able to attend due to work, and the fact that she no longer lives in Florida but in Tennessee now. Heartbreaking, but it was ok, I knew she would be down in September and I would see her then.

I receive a text from the girls confirming our room number, I am in the room making a drink, and they knock on the door; hugs kisses all around and I go back to my drink making. Knock on the door, and in walks my Tennessee daughter and her fiance, who flew down the day before and they all kept it a secret. I am now crying and so happy (she will be 21 next week and I didn’t think I would see her before that).

Well, her fiance goes back out to the car to get their things, and they quickly close the door, I am still in tears and hugging my kid not believing she is actually there, and they pulled off this secret when Mike tells me to turn around, and there he is with the ring, and says “will you marry me”?  My only reaction at that point honestly was “WHAT THE F&^%”!!! Of course then I said yes, and that he can wear jeans. He is my redneck man and I know he hates suits.

Turns out he had called all 3 of my daughters and asked their permission and it was when he called my Tennessee daughter that he found out she was coming down, and although he is lousy at secrets, I am very excited that this one was kept.

In less than an 30 minutes my side of the bridal party was set up, it was easy, 2 of my daughters are brides maids, the 3rd is my flower gal, my bf of 16 years is my Matron of Honor and my bf of 30 years is Maid of Honor. His side is now fixed as well, one brother is Bridesmaid or Best Man, other brother, bf and step son from prior marriage are gm’s and his nephew is Lord of the Rings.

    March 25, 2012 HURRY UP!!!
