It was a very easy choice for me. I always knew I wanted my sister as my maid of honor and then I have a cousin I grew up with and my best friend as bridesmaids.

easy i have one sister who is very dear to me she is MOH; my friends change everytime I move, which is so frequent every 3 to 4 years, so I was going to limit it to just her; but since my Fiance added more groomsmen I added my 15 year old niece who I am close to and is like a little sister to me as bridesmaid

I’m having trouble with this right now…

My Fiance would like to have 4-6 guys and I want him to do that.
I have my sister as my Maid/Matron of Honor and kinda wish I could leave it at that but I know it’s not going to happen…  There are four of us who are still really close from college but two are married and busy with family stuff and the other is in a serious relationship and really anxious to get engaged so I am not sure if they want to do it for their own reasons.

Then I have a couple girlfriends I’ve become very close to since I moved to Ireland but I don’t want to burden them in case it might be too much to ask along with just traveling to the US for the wedding….

I’d love to know how others decided…I’m sure it will all work out but part of me would like it to be more clear-cut!

For me it was pretty easy — my 3 sisters, my Future Sister-In-Law and my best friend. For my Fiance, however, he is taking his time with it. He know she wants his brother and his cousin but as for the other 3, its up in the air. He is going to wait til closer to the date pick, so if for some reason he loses touch with someone he doesn’t have to worry about obligating that person.

We found that keeping things SMALL made it easy.  I had 2 bridesmaids (my best friend; his sister) and he had 3 groomsmen (brother & 2 best friends).

But even trying to find a 3rd bridesmaid to even out the number started making things far too complicated — once you get beyond the easy category of "best friend," there were just too many other factors.  The former best friend that you haven’t talked with as much in the past couple of years, the small group of friends where you couldn’t ask one but not another, etc., etc.

It was a very easy choice. We chose my sister as the Maid/Matron of Honor, my FI’s brother as the Bridesmaid or Best Man, our only niece and nephew (so far) as the Flower Girl and Ring Bearer. My brother will probably serve as the Usher.

The only compromise that happened is that we had left out my FI’s best guy friends from being in the party. My Fiance and I wanted a small party since we are having the ceremony and reception in the same hall.

We have decided to go with 2 Bridesmaid or Best Man and 2 Groomsmen … so I picked my 2 sisters, and he picked his 2 longest friends. It got a little complicated, because I have 2 long-time friends that thought they would be asked …

I could have asked FH to pick 2 more guys and gone to 4 attendants each, but since we are having a small (100 guest or less) wedding, it would look silly to have 10 people in the wedding party.
