We called our parents and texted our siblings and closest friends. Then we made a Facebook announcement for the rest. Not very creative but we don’t like to make a big deal out of anything.

Literally after it happened by Fiance and I drove to his parents house, his aunt was there as well.

I sat down and said something… like look what i got! And she was extremely happy and filled with hugs and hugs and hugs lol his mom was like oh my god! (she knew it was happening. Just didnt know when). Then asked to see my ring… everyone congratulated us. Then his mom handed him the phone and told her the numbers to call (His whole family lol….) took us over an hour.

I then called my aunt and uncle on the way home, texted my dad (prepaid text phone), texted my brother and his gf … facebooked all others since I dont have long distance ๐Ÿ™‚

We waited to post it on facebook for about 3 or 4 days, we wanted to tell important friends and family first. We made the annoncement with these mugs I made…

Such support and love ๐Ÿ™‚

I really wanted to just enjoy my Fiance and I being engaged (just the two of us) for the evening before telling anyone else, but my Fiance told me that my parents knew and my mom was probably dying and attached to her phone all day waiting for my call. I called my immediate family that night (probably 15 minutes after it happened) upon his insistance. It was pretty late, but my grandmother was the next person to know (I called her about 6:00 AM the following day), followed by the cousins that I am closest to who I wanted to tell in person. The rest of the family (aunts, uncles, cousins) got a text message. We didn’t announce it on Facebook until two days later, and only because my Fiance was DYING to write the status update. It was cute because he never posts on FB, but he was so excited! ๐Ÿ™‚

I texted a picture of my ring with a “We’re engaged!” caption to all my friends and family.  DH’s entire family were already there when he proposed so they got to be a part of the surprise.

We sat down with his parents, saying we have news. We told them and they both cried and called for a toast (a shot of liquor, its an italian thing) and then we had a bonfire ๐Ÿ™‚ it was really nice!

We told my parents the same way but they weren’t as excited.I told my siblings and grandparents in person after that, and then we posted it on facebook to let everyone else know ๐Ÿ™‚

My entire family actually knew we were getting engaged before I did! Fiance bought the ring a month before Christmas (he’d waited almost a whole year so he could take advantage of the Black Friday deals – I’m so proud, haha!), then brought it to our families to show them the ring, get their blessing, and tell them when he was planning on asking. None of them could keep a secret, so they all told the rest of the family. Somehow, no one spilled the beans and I was completely surprised!

Fiance proposed Christmas morning, and I immediately called my mom and then my dad. It was Christmas, so I got to bounce around everyone’s houses – as is our tradition – and see people in person, but they already knew it was happening so it was just pure excitement as soon as I walked in the door!

For Facebook, I found a Pinterest idea and posted my own version:

We texted our parents and our close friends/siblings because we were SO excited…and it was midnight so we didn’t want to call and wake everybody up. Since it was Christmas Eve and we go to see both our extended families on Christmas Eve/ Christmas Day, we got to tell our extended families in person which was so much fun! Then a couple days later we posted on Facebook.

I called my parents and sister. I texted a close friend that I thought would be a bridesmaid though we ended up forgoing the bridal party. For the rest, I just posted on facebook. Fiance isn’t on social media, so he emailed his family and friends.

Fiance called his parents right after proposing. I emailed mine because of the time difference, but my mom called as soon as she woke up. Never posted it on FB.

futuremrsc2be:  i just called and told them, my mom and sister were on their way home from PA, and my aunt lives 2 doors down. So we waited for them to come home to see them in person. Thwn the next day we went to my in laws and had Sunday dinner. They all knew it was going to happen bc DH had showed them the ring
